Yes, the recall I received only applies only if I replaced the steering gear. They want to inspect to make sure the replacement was not a "defective "replacement. I understand that to mean if I have the original steering gear there is no need to be concerned or bring it in. There may or may not have been recalls for original factory installs of these gears also. That I don't know. My "recall" only applies only if I replaced the factory steering gear.

    Pretty things
Yeah. I hear it was a pretty recent issue with the machining equipment (one of them), so it should only affect recent builds and recent replacements

My truck must have my accident on its record because I got one today. It's been in two rear fender benders. Bumper pushed into the bedside both times. 99.9% I'm not affected.

I haven't checked my mail, but from that picture, it looks like they only care if you had the steering gear replaced in the last 6 months. Am I reading that correctly?

Edit: just found the recall thread, looks like I was correct. July 2021 to October 2021 were the ones caught in the recall.

Ya, I got mine. Like mention above, it's only if you had a repair/replacement done. I think I read somewhere that there were a total of something like 112 that were done.

Yep...got one too last night and it's a CYA move for Toyota. It defiantly says if you have NOT had this gear replaced since Aug. 5 2021 then you have no action necessary.

There were many more than 112. We've already done a handful where I work.
