    Hello all,
I have an 03 Tundra with the 4.7. The other day I was driving and lost 4 cylinders at once. I have codes p0301, p0304, p0306, p0307. I have switched a coil between cyl 5 and 7 and the codes did not change, so I believe my coils to be good, also the plugs and coils are not terribly old, less than a year.
I believe my trouble is with what sends the trigger signal to the coils to tell them to fire. I have read that some vehicles have an igniter to send the signal, and I have read that some coils get their signal directly from the PCM? Which is the 03 Tundra? TIA

Sounds like it could be jumped timing. How long since the timing belt was last changed?

Timing belt is 40K miles old. What would cause it to jump timing?

Bad belt (unlikely, but possible) or a failed/failing tensioner maybe? I would also trace the electrics for the ignition on that bank of cylinders and look for wires that may have been chewed...it would be the first time a rodent caused an electrical issue under the hood...

I will check the wires. I believe it is electrical. Do you know where the coils get their signal from?

Yeah, I would be suspect of a ground or one of the wires to those coils. I had a friend with a GS430 (3UZ-FE) and was doing the same thing. We found a broken ground wire in the loom. Repaired it and he's been CEL free ever since..

I also say it's a wire somewhere. Something is causing that bank not to fire. If it is the other problem, that's gonna hurt.

It may not help, but this thread had the same issue. Multiple misfire codes out of nowhere. He changed a bunch of parts with no joy. It ended up being contaminated gasoline.

    Multiple cylinder misfire P0300, 301, 304, 305, 308

Apologizes, just saw this.....this was garden/yard work day getting ready for spring and all that fun cutting grass....NOT !

Have attached 2003 2UZ-FE Ignition schematic but not sure that is going to help.
Would you mind adding to that Please....what do you mean lost, did it kick and scream or act irregular in any way ?
This internet troubleshooting on problems like this can be daunting....that said and if it were I, I personally would not assume coils are good and just move on. Just like I would not assume injection system to be good and clean.
Since it has been a year, have you checked the condition of the plugs for tightness and according to what plug you got, even the tightness or lack there of regarding the silver screw on cap of plug.
I personally would take the time since I have the time and swap coil 1 with coil 2, 4 with 3, 5 with 6, 7 with 8, clear all codes and test drive it....but that's just me wanting to start fresh. Those are somewhat odd/even numbers, 2 on one side, 2 on other
Also, what coils did you buy, OEM, Ebay knockoffs ?
What plugs did you buy ?
How is the maintenance on air filter, maf sensor, throttle body, PCV valve, vacuum hoses....all of those can play a part.
Might even consider some sea foam.
Coil and igniter are one and get their respective IGT signal from the ECM.

Thank you guys you have given me a bunch of info.
@BubbaW I probably could use an air filter, and intake cleaning/seafoam.
The coils are aftermarket from AutoZone. The plugs are Bosch iridium's I think. I did not pull all of them, the ones it did pull. The cylinders with codes are clearly not firing at all. The other look pretty good, golden brown and no build up.
The condition occurs while driving down the road about 50, not in the throttle, just cruising. The engine lost power and would barely idle. Whole truck shook,. I limpped it back home about 3 miles. Now it will start very rough idle, very evident fuel/sulfer odor from the exhaust. And the above codes.

I will check the wiring and swap the coils around as suggested this weekend.

Thank you everyone for your help.
