    Getting my truck on Tuesday.

Does anybody think the extended warranty is worth it, he told me standard is 2year/ 25,000 miles

I was under the impression that on all new current cars it’s 3year/36,000 miles?

    0939FBE8-0344-4F97-91E0-B1C6C9077316.jpg

    Or an extra $4000

For 10 year / 100,000 miles (Bumper to Bumper)
    And 5 years of Maintenance?

Going to go with no. Seems like I have seen people paying $1000 to $1500 for the extended warranty but I think that is for a 5Y/100K. Also it should be 3y/36k miles for the original warranty. As far as the extended maintenance goes you need to see what all is included and then decided if you can do all that stuff cheaper yourself or if your time is more valuable. Also love that little trick they did to get you payments lower.....another 12 months and .30% interest rate.

First of all, a $900 or $1K vehicle payment? :eek2:

A lot of variables on this decision:
Depends on your financial situation, how much you will have available for repairs (if needed) when your 3/36K warranty expires?
Being the first year of a model redesign, we've already seen multiple issues with these 2022 trucks.

$4K is a lot of cash for a warranty, although it is 10 years or 100K miles.
    I paid $2K for a 7 year / 75K miles in 2014 and I probably paid too much.

That stated I bought an extended warranty for my 2005 and for my 2014.
I didn't have a lot of cash in case something went wrong, especially 2007.
Never did use either one of them, never had any problems.
Although both of these models were established and not in the first year of production.
The 2014 is just a 2007/2013 with are few parts changed.
The 2022 is a complete redesign.

Thumbs down on a 6 year loan.

    Good luck.

Usually I tell people buying an extended warranty on a Toyota is a waste of money but for an all new first model year vehicle it might not be such a bad idea.

If you have that kind of money, why consider an extended warranty?
    FuK it, I'd pass.

They should be giving you 2 years of maintenance for free.
Which was only 2 oil changes and a few tire rotations for my 2014.

In that case tell them you want the extended warranty and extended maintenance for $2k and tell them you will finance with whatever company they want. Then pay it off next week. They get no kick back if you are paying in cash and will be less inclined to deal.

Dammit, that's a good point and idea..

I'd certainly pay $2K for 10 years and 100K miles.
Even more so for a 2022.

It’s totally up to you. Some like the piece of mind. Some think it’s a waste of money. Some like to work on their on trucks. I have bought them before and skipped on some as well. As for it being a new truck and redesign, might be worth it because of all the tech. All the issues that people are having on the new trucks are under 36k miles. Doesn’t matter if you have extended coverage or not. You surely will have all the bs figured out before that.

also…… I surely am not paying 4k for the warranty. EVERYTHING is negotiable. Especially if you are NOT financing. I bought 1 on my wife’s ‘21 4Runner ( she wanted the ext warranty ) same 10yr/100k and maintenance for $1800. I did not finance the 4Runner.

I was going to get an extended warranty then read Consumer Reports that basically said for Toyota, Honda and Subaru that they were a waste of money. Thinking back on my Toyotas, that’s true. I have never had a failure outside of the covered 3yr warranty period including one Tacoma I put 256,000 miles on.

Search the forum as I’m not sure where it’s listed, but there is a thread that you can request a pm for which will give you some contact info for 2-3 dealerships in other states that can sell you extended warranty’s at 1/4 or so what they are offering you. Normally will send you a spreadsheet with years/mileage and cost, you email what you’d like, they have you pay and send you all necessary paperwork in the mail and it’s good for any Toyota dealership and it’s threw Toyota itself so don’t have to worry about any 3rd party issues.

I "haggled" the young finance guy (probably still got screwed) for the 10/100,000 warranty to $2k...he started at $4600 or something like that. Figured it is a new truck model, a bunch of electronics, something is bound to go wrong and I don't want the headache of shelling out $Xk in whatever it costs to repair or replace it beyond 3 years. I will blow past 36K miles in 2 years most likely.

Additionally, if you can pay for the vehicle outright...great, I am all for using OPM (other people's money), I would rather invest that disposable income in a "down market", I will make 3/4/5X in return over the auto loan interest rate. :D

Yes you can buy from any dealer if you are getting the Toyota Care Plans. They are also honored at any Toyota Dealer.

PM set with two good deals I got for my 2021. I am sure the cost for a 2022 will change but these two will be the lowest priced.

I believe the 2 years/25k miles thing is the Toyota Care service package. Essentially oil changes, tire rotations and maintenance checks for that interval. There are a few dealers and contacts from various forums that can offer Toyota warranty packages for much much cheaper than your typical dealer can. I think I got a 5 year 100k mi warranty for like $700 for my 2016 4Runner. I never ended up using it but it was cheap insurance I guess.

You have until your 3yr/36k expires to buy the Platinum. You can feel out your first couple years of ownership and see if itll be worth the investment or not to extend the warranty.

    1. thats not a toyota vsa warranty
    2. its a 3rd party warranty which means most likely that only that dealer will be able to do warranty work (if you break down outside of the tow range of the dealer you bought it from, they wont honor it)
    3. a toyota 10/125k would probably by about 1/2 the price you are paying for the $4k price. ask for pm's from people that have picked one up.

i paid $680 for a platinum zero deduct, 7/75k toyota vsa plan back in 2018. since we were not going to keep our 2018 long term.

Id be a savage and ask someone "if I buy this bullshit, are yall gonna honor it. I got a "vsa" on my used truck that was supposed to cover "bumper to bumper" and they were dicks about the only issue I ever had. Did you know that the dome light switch is not a mechanical or electrical component? They wont tell me wtf it actually is. Its between my bumpers but not covered, I love toyota vehicles, but I absolutely hate toyota dealers.... The sonsabitches!!

I paid $1545 for Toyota platinum zero deductible 10 year 100k. Check the warranty thread that AZTUNDRA has.

I was quoted 3600 at first by dealer for same coverage
