Considering an extended warranty on a 2024. In the past I would never, but with way more electronic stuff and a far more complex engine design I'm considering it.

Are there good options other than from the dealer at point of sale? Does Toyota offer an extended warranty or is it all 3rd party stuff? What should I expect to pay, is it negotiable?

I didn't buy it on my 2022 and now wish I had. Besides I think the first 6 services are free which more less pays for the extended warranty

From what I am reading you can still buy it as long as you are still under your original factory warranty.

Purchased mine from Jerry about three weeks ago. 125,000 miles for $850 bucks. Just received my warranty documents from Toyota today. Jerry is the man. No better deal out there. So easy to work, emailed him and he called me the same evening. Same warranty from purchasing dealer was close to $3000

That's awesome, hope I can get a similar deal. I wonder if the price varies based on the build details of the truck or if it's pretty standard. I'm guessing the dealer I am working with will be asking for way more. I should find out today :fingerscrossed:

It shouldn't matter about the trim level. Jerry has a whole menu of years and mileage combos. I drive a lot so I just went with 4 years and 125,000 miles. So really only covers me for a year after factory warranty is up, but I need the extra 90,000 miles.

Gotcha, I assumed you meant the 10 year. My 2014 Tundra has 105k on it so the 10 year/125k mile is just right for me. I'm guess the cost for those extra year is going to be higher.

In lieu of a traditional extended warranty, I went with Geico's "Mechanical Breakdown Insurance." 7 years/100,000 miles. $58 every six months. The vehicle is eligible for MBI coverage only if started during the first year of ownership and with under 15,000 miles on the odometer.

    https://www.geico.com/auto-insurance/mechanical-breakdown-insurance/

The MBI is an addition to my regular Geico auto policy on the truck. I've been with Geico for 35 years. Other insurance companies, not sure which ones, offer some form of MBI.

Dealer I am buying from quoted $2,870 for the 10/125k platinum plan. I am going to pass on that and hope to find a better deal elsewhere.

When I bought my extended warranty, 10 year/100,000 miles for $1560, he was very responsive. He sent me the info on miles to years packages in an email for me to mull over and get back to him. Jerry is a great guy to deal with, not pushy ie u don’t feel like you’re under the gun to make a quick decision. As far as the time frame to get a Toyota extended warranty it is/was 3yr/36000 miles from the original purchase date.

Contact all your in-state Toyota dealers. Depending on how many miles you have, you still have the option of the 5yr/60k Used Platinum Plan from Toyota. I am purchasing this on my '22 with 43k miles for $1899. This will make me to just over 100k miles and another 5 years. It's more expensive but just 3 weeks into used ownership this does make me feel more at ease with all the things that could happen.

Based on what I am seeing you are overpaying. If you are willing to shop around I would. I haven't heard back from Jerry, but http://www.fd-warranty.com/ mentioned in post #5 above is going be a lot less.

The problem is I am out of the 3yr/36k mile warranty so I don't qualify for anything Jerry or FD has to offer unfortunately.

I see, I misunderstood. If you haven't already, I would still check with FD they seemed to have many other options and best prices so far and are quick and easy to get info from.

Yeah. The other rub is you can't buy these out of state, according to Jerry. And I did speak to Troy at FD and he reiterated the same.

Anyone know if the platinum warranty covers the TRD lift components if they were installed after purchase at a Toyota dealer?

The Toyota extended warranties start with the day the vehicle was bought, not when the factory warranty expires. A 75k mile warranty ends when the vehicle has 75k miles on it, regardless of when you bought it.
