I am sure this has been beat to death, but I cannot for the life of me get the remote start to work from the Toyota key fob. I have a 2020 SR5 crewmax, paid for the subscription, and I can start the truck from the app no problem. Rumor has it that if you press the the lock button really fast a couple of times it will start. Any truth to this? Is there another fob to get?

I have a 2017 so not sure if they changed it.

I press the lock button twice, then a third time and hold it down for a few seconds. Truck also turns off when you unlock to doors with remote start

    LED headlamps/fogs; interior footlamps.
3 times in fast succession while holding the button down continuously on the 3rd time until you see the lights blink, then let go and it will start/run for 10 mins or until you unlock the doors. Luck.

You don't need to pay for the subscription to use the Key Fob to start it, that should work regardless.

What you want to do is press the key fob lock button 2 times and then on the 3rd time you press and hold the lock button down for 5+ seconds and your lights will flash 5 times and start the truck.

When I use mine my method is:
I press the button 1 time and once I see the lights flash I release
then immediately press the button a second time once the lights flash again
you then immediately want to press and hold for the third time, this time the lights will flash but continue to hold the button and the lights will start to flash 5 times and the truck should start.

The factory remote start is definitely very finnicky. I fail at it every other time I try it. Once you get the feel for the sequence, it gets easier.

If only there was designated remote start button on the fob...
