I have a 2022 Limited and the factory charger in the front dash seems essentially useless. I have an iPhone with an Apple case and if the screen is on (Waze etc), the battery is slowly draining even while charging. If the screen is off, the charge rate is so slow that it's pointless - maybe a couple %/hr.

Anyone have similar results or is my charger defective? It also seems very easy for the phone to move out of alignment during normal driving and the amber light starts blinking to indicate an issue. There's no chance this thing will charge on any sort of trail.

I have the center console charger, works ok. Slower then plugging in. Is your case made to pass the wireless charge? The further from the pad, the worse the charge rate. Try without the case. I use it for convenience, not speed. Plug it in if you need the phone charged.

All Qi wireless chargers in any manufacturers vehicle are garbage. Waze is also trash, it’s so resource heavy that it’ll drain your battery much faster than Google or Apple Maps.

It's the same for all Qi chargers.

I had a 2 hour drive yesterday. My phone was running android auto (google maps and spotify) the whole way. The battery went from 40% to 20% in that time, while on the charger. I plan to have it plugged in for for anything longer than that. In the day-to-day commute (~30 min), the wireless charger does pretty well to keep me charged up, assuming 100% to start the day. Using Pixel 3XL, FWIW.

A lot of times the charge rate will be limited due to the phone temperature. If you have a big, heavy case on the phone, try removing that and seeing if it helps. Alternately, things like waze and other intensive applications do use a lot of resources which not only drains the battery faster but also creates heat which is one of the key issues with wireless charging.

My Tacoma is the same. Never use it. Didn't see a reason to put one in my 17 Tundra that a lot of people are doing. Cord does the best job

Does anyone know if you can pop out the Qi plate? I'd love to replace it with a flush Apple MagSafe charger..

I don't have the OEM charger, but mounted a MagSafe thin one in that location. It charges fine through my case or my wife's case for her phone even running waze. I'd like to eventually mount it true surface, but don't have the time to mess with it now. It is a great location for the phone to sit and I hate messing with charging cords.

I have the wireless Toyota console charger in my 20 and it fast charges my phone with a case on. Take a volt meter to the connection and make sure you're getting the proper output then you'll know if it's defective

Anyone know how to pop this plate out to take a look? What should the voltage be? Thanks!

when I test drove one recently, more important than the voltage (im interested in that too), but it would lose connection all teh time, I wonder if they have a small connection area as well as underpowered

Lolz. Im just jelly cause my headphones dont fit in my helmet.

grandpas taco has an iq charger and will charge his tiny phone, but the trucks screen needs him to be plugged in, so we use an old phone to leave in the truck and download map updates at the house on a pc.

Does that writing change when there is a backup ahead, and then offer an alternative route?
I'm sure you would hate sitting in traffic on your Vespa scooter.
Unless you're one of those assholes that cuts thru traffic in a backup.

More useless technology just to jack up the price on the vehicles. I just plug it in and use Apple car play. I could run my maps and play Spotify at the same time and battery stays at 100%.

Works fine if you don't have a thick case. It's not a high powered charger, and was never advertised as such.

Waze in combination with wireless carplay is using a lot of juice so don't expect to increase battery levels. I see the thing as more of a "battery level maintainer" in most cases, but I'll be replacing with a higher power one eventually.

I plug mine in and use Apple CarPlay. And I don’t connect Bluetooth. Everything works great even can put Gaia on the factory screen if I want.

Hmm, I have a Samsung S20 with a case (not very thick) and I run Android Auto with Waze and mine charges just fine. Not as much as my fast charger, but it always charges with a decent rate.

it seems to be a problem with Iphone 13's primarily. Some say because the camera sticks out more creating a gap. I think its only 0.5mm but maybe?

I'm thinking it's either the case or phone brand. I use a Samsung Z Fold with a case and it charges fine. The charger isn't said to be a "fast charger" and doesn't perform as such. Mine chargers as fast as the Samsung brand charger I have on my desk, that isn't a fast charger.
