I just got a 2024 Tundra TRD Pro and it has Falken Wildpeak A/T ATW3 tires on it. All online material from Falken and from tire stores says that is should have a 3-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) logo on it. But it does not.

Is this a known issue between the OEM and after-market part? Picture of the time included.

We go up to the mountains every weekend to ski, and I was looking forward to not having a set of winter and summer tires/wheels.

Well, that is disappointing. So, if I go places that require 3PMSF during snowstorms I need to either: 1/ get a set of winters; 2/ replace these with the real deal.

Toyo open country's and nittos are vastly superior than this tire.

The first thing I did is take off those falkens. They are great street tires and okay in wet but suck in snow and mud.

I got some Falkens for my trailer. In order to get the load rating I went to a 10 ply 3Peak version of AT3/W and I can tell you that they are heavy and the treads are quite deep. I really like them compared to the Goodyears that were on the trailer.

For the Tundra, if you went to a 10 ply tire, you should see a mileage hit. I went with a 10 ply Toyo for my Tundra and I can feel the added weight. I am not too sure if the hybrid would help but I think it should make a difference when starting up from a stop which is where you will notice the weight of these tires the most.

It is a little different but not much, the benefits far out weigh the negatives by going to a 10 ply. If they make or eventually make a 116t all terrain the that would be a good option.

Don’t worry about it, I saw a lot of posts about them oem wildpeak don’t even last 20k, get your credit card ready and get some bigger tires.

My Experience. These tires not good in Snow. Have a new set with just over 1000 miles on them (Toyota replaced due to alignment issue). This morning with 200LBS in back over rear axle, good traction but the fronts tend to plow as soon as you start into a turn. This is second snow with these. Not confident at all with them and They will be replaced late next summer..

Our 24 Rav4 Limited AWD with Michelins Primacy's does better in snow compared to the Tundra. It has dynamic AWD system and with MTS set for snow runs 4WD. Pretty slick system.

If you don’t need a E rated tire, Nokian Outpost nAT are fantastic. Quiet, smooth, and 3psf. They look real good too. My neighbor runs Toyo AT3 and removes them for winter. I run the Nokians 365 days a year.

Check out the Falken rt01 in a 35x11.5x18. They are c load rated.

Yes, and when you start looking to replace them, make sure to check the notes/descriptions from the various manufacturers when selecting sizes, load ratings, etc...

IE>> Not all aftermarket ATW3s coming 3-peak rated in all sizes, and it's the same for other brands as well...

The Falken AT4W was just released. Falken rates it as better in the snow than the AT3.

I thought those usually have an A to signify that. So it would say A/T 3W A

Yes I have these tires on my Pro, but the OP asked about 3peak mtn tires, and these do not have a snow rating which he says is required on some roads. The Wildpeak RTs seem ok in the snow, but lack of siping will hurt snow traction

Every year we drive from Seattle area to Kelowna, BC to go ski at Big White. British Columbia has pretty strict tire requirements on any highway that regularly get snow and requires a 3-peak logo, M+S or chains (Passenger Vehicle - Tire and Chain Requirements - Province of British Columbia (gov.bc.ca)). Not that I think I need it most days, and yest, I think I can get away with M+S. But we sat on the Coquihalla highway for 7 hours in a foot of snow and ice one time because two trucks, without chains, jackknifed blocking the snowshed. When we started back up, you were not getting out of there without winters. So call me paranoid, but I do drive here sometimes - Highway Thru Hell (TV Series 2012– ) - IMDb.

On normal weekends, it is Snoqualamie Pass, and the various other mountain passes in Washington.

We have those signs on most of the highways but still have too many drivers running around with summer tires. We are getting our first snow this season today and it is a smash up derby out there :)

Tbf a '3PMSF' isn't all much different than "organic" certification. Gotta pay to play

I mean more along the lines of the same tire but in different sizes, for example Cooper AT3 XLT, having a 3PMSF for the more standard sizes but they haven't paid for the other sizes most here would use so they don't get the snowflake

    Okay "boring"

But seriously, I had them and swapped them out just to get a tire that fit the truck better than those donut holes! (If Timmys made tires they would be tiny Michelins) :)

Falken has been around for a long time and have a pretty decent reputation. When I got mine Toyo's I was looking at the Falkens as well but it came down to a bit better price.

I did put Falkens on my Airstream to replace my Goodyears and I am very impressed with the improved stability after that switch.
