I am new to this forum so please let me know if I'm doing anything wrong.
    I have a 2000 Tundra 4.7 SR5 AC 4x4 162,000 miles.

As I was driving home last night my passenger front brake caliper blew out and I lost my brakes.
So my question to everyone here is what brake calipers do you recommend? Is this another situation where OEM is the only acceptable option? or can I just get them from Rockauto?

What do you mean blew out? The caliper seals failed? Got a picture?

Toyota sells a rebuild kit for like $25 IIRC assuming cups aren't damaged and bores are good.

If swapping calipers consider upgrade to 13WL calipers and larger rotors. May need to trim backing plate a little. Can search for and read about it on the forum.

Here's part numbers fo the 13WL rotors and pads.

Welcome to the forum, I would first start here for general info: https://www.tundras.com/threads/so-you-wanna-buy-just-bought-a-1st-gen-tundra-eh.115928/

I swore we had brake upgrade info in there, but I didn't find it, so I added a Braking section with linkback to this reply.

Many "inadequate braking" posts here tie back to, sadly, people not understanding how to properly bleed and adjust their trucks. More into in the last line of my reply here, in hte "rear adjustment" thread.

13WL is the way to go for your earlier pre-2003 truck! 2003+ came with 13WL stock. But beware, if you have 16" wheels this needs to be a consideration in your purchase, 13WL are larger size and will rub on some OEM wheels ("starfish" style are safe). @bmf4069 gave us a potato quality pic of what little bit of the brake dust shield needs trimming here.

If it were me, 13WL I'd buy is Powerstop 2712's (see below), specifically from Summit Racing b/c it's a legit source with the best price+ship I could find (you can't trust scAmazon or fleaBay, fakes galore). Powerstop re-mans in-house, here in the USA. Top quality, but totally reasonable pricing.

The next step up would be going 14WA from the GX/LX but that requires machining of the caliper to fit. More info on that here.

Bleeding-wise, either pressure bleed (ideal) or vacuum bleed (acceptable). If using the old school method of pumping pedal (not ideal), don't run the pedal to the floor. Some models with ABS+VSC make it easy, electric pumping. Order to bleed: Rear passenger, Load Sensing Proportioning Valve ("LSPV"), Rear driver, front passenger, front driver. Some trucks don't have an LSPV from factory. Also note, if you've lifted your truck and you haven't adjusted or relocated the LSPV, you're probably getting a degraded braking experience.

Last but not least, rear adjustment (and parking brake adjustment) is crucial to proper braking in these trucks. To the point there's an entire thread on the topic to cover everyone's fails/follies/findings/etc.

Hi! I'm new to the Tundra's and new to this forum. I bought a 2000 V8 4x4 with 266k miles a few weeks ago and it doesn't look like it was maintained very well at all. But its got a good body, a clean cab and it was cheap... so I'm trying to get it going. I ordered the Powerstop S2632 (13WE) calipers off Amazon (stupid move) but I've decided to return them. I'm thinking of going with NAPA's Adaptive One re-manufactured 13WL but I have 17 inch rims on 285/70/17's BFG KO2's and worried they'll rub. Would you suggest rolling the dice on the Powerstops or going 13WE or 13WL? Thanks in advance for the advice.

13WLs should fit on 17s without any issue. There's an even bigger option than the 13WLs you should be able to do with 17's as well. https://www.tundras.com/threads/2000-2006-tundra-big-brake-upgrade-kit-14wa-calipers.61231/

Not sure if I understood correctly.

If you currently have 13WE calipers, and you upgrade to 13WL calipers, you also need to buy 13WL rotors and 13WL pads.

I won’t buy NAPA parts. They outsource to whoever is cheapest with at least their more budget friendly parts these days. Thats why they got snagged up in the lower ball joint recall debacle. There are videos online showing how shitty their tolerances have gotten on their parts as of late. You’re going to get inferior quality parts.

Rotors should both be the same diameter for the 13WL & 13WE, approximately 318mm. The 03-06 part number (43512-0C011) is listed for 00-02 as well, and it supersedes the original part number for 00-02 (43512-0C010).

Super weird, we had someone on here - one of the TX dudes that got banned? - who had shelf-wear (overhang) on his pads because the pads were larger than the rotor. Had an earlier model truck, with 13WL calipers and pads, but earlier year rotor.
