My cup holder will not fully close on my other 2000 Tundra SR5. Upon inspection, there are parts inside the sleeve that are broke. I'll need to replace the entire unit which will require part of the dashboard. Anyone have tips or is there a tutorial before I tackle this?20230218_161117.jpg 20230218_161108.jpg

There's two 3(?)mm Allen head bolt/screws in the left hand side and right hand side of the slide.

If you go to the passengers side, and slide the cup holder out, you can see the one on that side.

Those are the only two bolts/screws holding in the cup holder.

There's another one on the drivers side.

I'm aware of these Allen keys. They will allow me to pull out the cup holder, but I also need to pull out the sleeve which is attached behind the lower dashboard.

Oh... I haven't done that. Have you pulled the cup holder to see how it's attached?

I can't remember off hand. I think that sleeve is plasti-welded to the dash?

Yes, thanks. I'm hoping someone knows for sure how the sleeve is attached, and how to get to it.

I guess I'll carefully remove the dash, and go from there. I'll work on it this coming week.

Just a point of note: When you get the replacement, there should be a couple of screws (you can see in the top/inside) that'll let you remove the faceplace, if you need to replace the piece with the colored front. It'll make things easier.

Toyota's exploded diagrams for the dash/instrument cluster make it look like it's sold as a complete assembly:

Have you removed the cup holder tray via the 2 screws ?
The reason I ask is because there are 2 plastic spring loaded cams(my name) inside tray holder, one on each side, that have to rotate as you push tray back in. Perhaps one of them is stuck or an object has fallen in the way.

With tray removed, you can stick screw driver or long tool to see if you can move/rotate the cams.

As a side note for any 2004 owners dealing with this, our years use T10 torque bit to remove the 2 screws for tray removal

Follow up if you're still around @21TundraSX or for others needing info....you'll have to remove what they refer to as the Lower Dash Panel Cover since cup holder/bracket is held in place with screw. The FSM does not mention step by step for that item. It will require removing glove compartment door and lower finish panel also.

It's not that bad, just tedious to remove entire lower dash. I've had them out in both trucks but that was some time ago.
