Not sure if this thread has been done before but just curious... What was the absolute first thing or things you did or changed on your Tundra after getting it home from the dealer?

I'll go first, my Tundra was used with only 23k miles, I changed the cabin air filter.
Than intake accelerator and AFE drop in dry filter within the first week. I've got black overlays with black tailgate letter inserts, TRD grille badge and grille LEDs on the way now. Very lite mods n aesthetics to start off with.

Wishlist is Dirty Deeds exhaust, ESP under seat storage and thinking of the NSV hood bulge lightbar.

I always thought the under rear seat storage is a good mod. The truck don’t look so cluttered. And snoopy people can’t see the valuables.

    Alot of them
The NSV is overpriced for its output. They also changed the wiring to where it will only come on with the high beams. The only plus is that it is a plug and play installation. The BD S8 is much better.

I totally agree with you on the pricing! It's more of a want kinda thing rather than a need of course. I have inquired a concern in regards to putting any sort of lighting or even the "raptor lights" in the hood bulge and that's in regards to the natural elements like rain when traveling at regular to high speeds(or even just a simple car wash). Conern is water entering that hood bulge and pooling up in the hood than eventually dripping out of the holes where you would run wiring into the engine bay, water would drip onto the electronics/battery. I posted somewhere on here about that to see if that's even an issue for some who have removed or modified that plastic insert from the hood bulge. I would want to keep that hood bulge weather striped somehow and the NSV install video looks like it's an extremely snug fit but unless it's weatherstriped, water would most likely end up in there eventually causing issues or even the water just pooling up in there over time if the hood is not opened regularly. I have not taken it apart myself as i've only had my truck less than 2 weeks now so I am only assuming based on videos I've watched, but would love to hear from actual members who have modifed that stock hood bulge for lighting.

Definitley going to be my next mod. So sad Toyota did not think to use that space. When seeing the how to videos, I was shocked to see that entire area used only for hard foam!

First mod on my 2000 was Flowmaster 50 series with dual dumps over the axle. Still the one I enjoy everytime I drive it. No ragerts. After 17 years it has finally rusted through and needs replacement. Going right back with another one.
First mod on my 2019 was a TRD shift knob. Looks good and feels better in the hand. Not as impactful, but would do again.

Nice! IMO the stock exhaust on any of these trucks definitely needs that upgrade. That was a must for my '02 Tacoma. I got a Flowmaster on it that's lasted me 22+ years

Better floor mats(Husky), Phone mount(ProClip and Klockwerks), drivers grab handle, topper, 20"-->18" OEM wheeels(mainly because I found a set for a great deal)

Not sure if I would do it with a 4 or 6 cylinder, but a must for the V8 for me.

    My Tundra was also used.
When I got it home I immediately ordered and installed running boards on it.
    Then I put a bed-mat in.
A month and a half ago I bought a full set of winter studded Nokian tires on factory rims with TPMS and installed those about 3 weeks ago. While doing the tire change I undercoated the wheel wells and most of the undercarriage of the vehicle with PB Blaster.
I have a Diode Dynamics Hitch Light and a rear seat cover sitting on my kitchen table right now waiting to be installed - that'll be this afternoon hopefully.

Other than these small things, the only thing I'm looking for is perhaps a hood deflector and perhaps some in-channel window deflectors.

Agree, 4 nah. But my v6 Taco is boosted with an air intake and headers so the Flowmaster was a must to match all those extra goodies.

Luckily my Tundra was already lined when I bought it however I might look into one of those rubber type bed mats.

Cant tell by your avatar, but do you have the OEM LED headlights? If not, that would be my first mod. It was on my 2019, and I still think it's the best ROI for our trucks. The halogen headlights are turd candles.

First was a tonneau, installing the Elevate T-slot rails to allow the next addition. Elevate racks.

Then ditched the POS drop in plastic bedliner and added full bedrug.

QR Extinguisher mount in the back

Ran power to the bed and installed a 12V/USB receptacle. Added strip lights to the bed shortly after.

May change mufflers soon for something with a little more burble.

First change was probably flipping my headrests around since they push too far forward in their normal position.

Did you get the OEM bed mat? They do have OEM, right?

My truck came with the steps, I've never really cared too much for them as they kind of get in the way of wrenching under the vehicle(i'm a thicc boy with a healthy gut :D) but they do kinda come in handy sometimes. More so when I get my lift although i'm not planning on putting an extreme lift on it. I have long travel on my Tacoma so this will be mostly for street and perhaps very lite offroading.

Very very nice! All of it looks really clean! Love the light strip in the bed. If I ever do decide to the a tonneau, i'd definitley want to do the full bedrug like yours. The extiguisher is a very nice addon too and it mounts. I may have to do that. Without the tonneau cover though, i'd be worried of someone easily stealing it. I'm sure there are ways to lock it but wouldnt want to have to go through an extra step in case of an emergency. Can you link me to that mount? Thank you!

Yeah, I really wanted a truck with a spray-in liner already installed, but looking used I didn't necessarily have a lot of choices.
I ended up with a truck with a very nice Leer canopy and Thule roof bars so that was the next best thing (or maybe better in fact) than having a liner installed. In the end I don't ever see myself removing the canopy and getting a spray-in liner installed. For now I'm perfectly fine with the canopy/bed mat combo.

Yes, there's definitely OEM bed mat, but for a fraction of the cost I got a universal truck bed mat, 5/8th" thick, and just cut it to length. The only problem is that the sides don't fit tight like they would on a OEM version but w/e?

I hear you on the steps, but it was basically a 'must-have' as the wife/kids couldn't get into the truck without them. Also, I like the fact they act somewhat like rock/mud/grime-deflectors so to speak, as where I live the municipality likes to lay down a LOT of rock/dirt/sand in the winter and that stuff will do a number on your fenders in no time.

Yeah! They are OEM. I got real lucky with finding this Tundra with the low mileage and options that I've come to learn are sought after. I have learned though that the entire housing would need replacing when it comes to OEM LED's  So hopefully they last me a really really really long time.

I absolutely LOVE the bedrug! Especially when I have to get up in there and crawl around. The extra cush on this old skater's knees is very welcome.
Plus thing stay where you put them unless you want to move them... I keep a little pole with a hook on the end back there and I can grab and slide almost anything to me from anywhere in the bed without having to get in.

I almost mounted the extinguisher to an upright of my racks on the outside for the few sexonds quicer access in an emergency but yeah... people suck. Here's the link

First mod was remove the roof rack and add a pro grill. Then it escalated quickly lol. Now coming up on 2 years of ownership

2018, color matched everything that was chrome on the front. Changed mirror covers from black to color match. Added tube steps, Line-X premium (came with the stupid plastic bed liner that I cut up and scrapped), Tundra bed mat, different Toyota wheels (silver instead of the black/silver wheels that came with it). That's about it except for a bunch of tiny things I have forgotten about.

Mine came with the rear underseat storage, I thought all Tundras had that but I learned they didn't. Also came with LED headlights.

Sure thing. Before (right after I bought it brand new in January of 2018) and after the color match parts installed:

Oh yeah, Definitly a huge improvement! I love it. When shopping for my used '18 Tundra, I had a few options(different trims) and I just fell in love with the one I bought mostly because it's all color matched already. No Chrome which I don't really care too much for. In fact, I'm waiting on the black emblem overlays being shipped to me. I had one member on here tell me that he didn't care too much for the overlays as it adds a bit of bulky look to them so maybe if I don't like them, I may get the actual black emblems from Toyota, do you think you're going to do that as well?

I've been back and forth on this. You do mean the "Tundra" overlays for the tailgate, right? I've see many on the road and almost pulled the trigger but decided not to. This is very subjective and I personally tend to like the subdued look of the OEM.

As far as the other badges, I'm fine with stock on these as well.
