Has anyone seen or made a video changing a flex fuel fuel pump on a 5.7? I can't find a video. Have mine out. Suspect there are easier ways for installation. But no luck with youtube.

I skimmed it. But it's not a flex fuel vehicle. Easiest way to tell is the pump has three lines out instead of 2.

Not sure if you've done a flex fuel. But it has lines going to frame for the solenoid for the flex. I didn't know they were there bc all the videos I watched weren't for flex. So I ended up breaking them bc I didn't know they were there. Just would like to see the method someone uses to put the lines on and back in place. Have some ideas. But youtube videos have saved me a lot of time wrenching.

And Deatschwerks DW300 fuel pump is a good replacement that fits and doesn't break the bank.

Gotya, thought maybe you were at the beginning of the job and not the other end, that sucks. Just did my flex fuel about a month ago and all I can say is it's a pain getting the clips back on the lines. Looking back I should have spent the extra money and changed out all the fittings and hoses. I put in a Deatschwerks DW300C and external filter though so at least I got that done. All I can say is the most important part of that video is actually what you see in that thumbnail. You have to lift the tank just high enough that you can see in there and the lines still just reach where they are going. Have you ordered new lines yet?

The looking in there is 100% truth. I saw in there. But my mind registered only 2 lines. So I never thought the third one and the line routing would be different. Yank hung up but I thought it was just bc of the angle I had the jack. When I figured it out was about the time they popped.

New hoses ordered. Should be here today. They not cheap. Prob a hundred dollar mistake. The 2 green clips are about 100. The red clip on other end is 80 alone.

170k is my guess. I'm 2nd owner. But original didn't mention having it replaced.

The problem I suspect with these is the stupid "lifetime" fuel filter. No filter should be considered forever, it misses the whole point of the exercise. Most, if not all, people who have opted to install an external filter all report better behavior from the truck after the job is done. And of course replacing the whole darn thing with a new OEM one is blasted expensive and absurd.

Yeah I did my water pump too - don't feel like doing it again, but it wasn't hard. Our Sequoia has 130k miles and, to my knowledge, still has the OEM water & fuel pumps.

Our 16 made it to 120 for water pump. Still good on fuel pump. I added marvel mystery oil to last tank and it's also now getting 15mpg. 13.9 was avg before.

I guess this would help. But the tank filter still gonna be the first thing that does any filtering.

You bypass the tank filter when you do it. Only thing in the tank you use is the new strainer you put in, the donut filter in the assembly is unused. Just went on a long trip this past weekend, little over 350 miles each way, and got about 16.2 mpg. Less than 15 on these is when you know something is up.

My 16 didn't make it to 90k before I had to do the h2O.

It was leaking out weep hole on last oil change. I had to google to know what I was looking at. Looked like bubble gum was spit all over the skid plate.

Did you build your own kit or go with the kit from URD that they say won't work? Looking at doing this right now with my wifes flex fuel Sequoia.

Do you happen to remember or have access to which fuel filter you used? Where did you mount it? Pretty much any information/pics you can give me just so I can order parts on the front end knock this out.

Shoot, sorry I missed this, hope it's not too late.

Pump - DeatschWerks DW300C; direct drop in replacement for our pumps, just have to connect the wires a little differently
Pump Strainer - Denso 952-0093; fit is a little off but is the best option
External Filter - K&N PF-1300; you can certainly go more fancy with filters, this was the cheap route. DeatschWerks DW-FF70 would be one fancy option that I like better. I mounted it to the frame just ahead of the tank. Mounting with the cheap version is wonky, I just made up something of my own. The fancy version is nice since it includes brackets.
Hose - doing this bypass does require a hose or two on the inside, you'll need at least one, more if one of the existing ones break. This one worked well enough, though every option seems to be a bit of a pain to work with because of the tight fit. You'll also need the external hose going to and from the filter as well, for those I just grabbed some local and connected inline.
Clamps - I recommend having some of these on hand for most tasks

Nice find on the fuel filter. Would saved me time from modding the other one I used.
