Can you use a regular gas pump in a FLEX fuel truck?
I've heard that the only real difference is the makeup of some of the parts to prevent corrosion.
I have also heard the the FLEX pump flows more. That that should not matter if you never plan to use something like E85.

The basket is different. It won't just go in. I'd think there are other reasons to use the right pump. Least of which is not wanting to drop the tank multiple times. (Which I have done)

The Walbro TIA485-2 450lph model f9000267 fits in the ffv canister. At least you don't have to modify the canister. It needs to be the #267 as the other has larger dimensions! Some good reading...

I'm basically considering changing the whole assembly because my sending unit is FUBAR.

I picked up a FFV canister assembly on fleabay for $100. Sequoia or Tundra works...

Well, I just finished changing out my pump. Helps to have a lift, but some of those lines are a PIA to disconnect and reconnect on top of the tank.
I watched a few You Tube videos before doing it. I noticed that every pump they changed, only had 2 lines going to it. My new pump has 3 connections. GREAT, I thought, I was sent the wrong pump.
Well when I got to the point to start disconnecting the fuel lines, on my tank, I noticed that I had 3 lines on my truck. WHEW!!
My truck is a Flex Fuel pump, so maybe that is the difference. But I am glad I did not try to save a few pennies and order the standard gas pump.

When I removed the pump assembly from the tank, I checked the sending unit, which was really my reason for replacing everything.
If you look at the small metal square piece on the sending arm, it is actually a magnet. As it passes the other piece, on the pump, it sends the reading. My had a good bit of metal pieces stuck to it. In he picture, I have already cleaned them off. This must have been why my readings were all over the place. I could have just cleaned it up and stuck the OEM assembly back in. I think that would have fixed it, but I swapped the unit out.

Here is what the top of my OEM Flex Fuel pump looks like. 3 connections.
Below it is what the inside looks like.

Looks like the in tank filter was doing its job.

From flex to gas..... I can't say but I have a regular gas and when I installed the 46gal tank I had anew flex pump installed into the new tank. The flex pump is called for if you intend on installing a supercharger.

    Just one less thing.
