Is it possible to flip the spare tire so that the valve stem points downward. It’s impossible to add air to it now so more than likely will be flat when you need it….

And I’m not sure if it had a TPM on it or not…..

    Merry Christmas.

Sure can. Some spares came with tpms if the rest of the truck did

Or if you don't want to expose the outside of the wheel to road debris and gunk, get a valve stem extension. Check and add air easily.

I tried to flip my spare and it wouldn't work. The shape of my spare wheel doesn't allow it. Curious how others were able to it.

    You rolling on slabs?
The little dangling thing should fit right into the hub just like if it was flipped the other way

My spare is one of those 6 spoke OEM wheels. When I tried it that way, the outside of the wheel is curved so it doesn't create a flat surface for the dangle to rest on. I couldn't get it to hug the cross member.

My spare has a TPMS valve. It is mounted with the valve facing down. I'm not sure it was always like that, or if a previous owner flipped it. Stock wheels by the way.

I’ll try and see if it works. I really don’t care about road debris as if I’m using it it will be a last resort.
As far as the TPM the other tires have them, but I’m doubtful if the spare does as it has never gone off and it’s never had air…..

Other downside: The dangling bracket can also dig into the front lip of your wheel, so if it's an alloy vs. a steelie, you can permanently damage the wheel face when cranking it tight. Your method with the extender is the way to go.

If you live in salty-road areas, unless you're rinsing regularly, that wheel'll be screwed in a couple years.

I just flipped mine. It was a steel wheel and the bracket fit in just fine. Thx all.
And now I know how to remove my spare tire :) :) :) Only had the truck since 2007...

Is this a 7" or 12"? Might need to know which one to check out on Amazon with!

I prefer having 12" myself. With only 7", if it's too short, it's too short. With 12" you've got a little more wiggle room to do whatever you want with it.

I'm using an OEM starfish wheel. I assume same one you are referencing and it works fine. Not sure the difference.

Nope. I have the ones that Remington had to modify to make work. Explains why they wouldn't work for me.
