Lots of moose. In the summer there is a family of them running 7 or 8 deep watering themselves at Goose pasture Tarn that I pass 3 of 5 days a week on the way to Work

Yeah, after a quick Google I found that the state reintroduced them back in 1978 and now the population numbers over 3k.

    http://cpw.state.co.us/moose-country

We have some property in Montrose which, I'm sure you're already aware, is a pretty popular area for Elk hunting. Deer and Elk everywhere you look but I've never seen Moose in the area. Maybe they're just not that far west? I have no idea but next time we're up there I'm going to look in to it.

Are you bringing the power in from the back of the cab? Comes under the cab, thru the back from the battery?

love me a good Sky Pond hike. how was Loch Lake? frozen yet? walking across that is badaaaass, then the hike up the waterfall towards SP is super fun - ive done it in both summer and winter and winter is BY FAR way easier and prettier. was there a good bit of snow (snowshoe worthy) or was it tracked out (microspike worthy) up there?

Have a couple of friends coming in this weekend and looking to show them how impressive it is.

loch is frozen solid and totally walkable. i stayed near the edge just in case.

    Slavin_180105_6174.jpg

trail up to loch is fine with just spikes. i did not bring shoes with me. i got across loch and most of the way up the waterfall/stream bed before things got too deep for not having shoes. backtracked a bit and found the actually sky pond trail. that was pretty wind blown and crusty. dropped into a few holes. probably would be just fine with shoes.

so, the only nice person i've come in contact with today has been adrienne over at hondo garage. i had a dyslexic/senior moment and goofed up my house number on the order. USPS sent it back to them. i let hondo know and adrienne verified it was on the way back then shipped out a new box to me today. no questions asked. now, back to my regularly scheduled head smashing into my desk...

can't where that picture was taken, national park. besides, i'm not exactly backpacking the alaskan wilderness although, i would like to. however, i have been thinking about getting something for when i'm not in the park. especially, with more of the homeless/drifter/addict crowd showing up in areas that i hike, ride and take the truck.

This is not entirely true. In 2009 legislation was passed that does indeed allow you to carry in our nation's NP's, IF the park is in a state that in which you are legally allowed to carry in. Just can't take it in to any federal buildings that are located within the park.

In your case, if you're licensed carrier within the state of CO then you can carry in a NP within that state.

This article explains it in layman's terms for dummies like myself.
