Ok guys I installed a Flowmaster Outlaw exhaust on my 2018 Tundra 5.7 liter a month ago. I love the sound of the exhaust but just recently my wife and I have been using my truck. We usually drive her Prius V. She's been complaining of the drone sound in the cabin. We would love to take this truck on long trips but she said that exhaust has to go. I would like to stick with the dual exhaust setup and would hate to put the stock back. Those of you who own a TRD Dual Exhaust what does your wives say about it? Is there a drone sound in the cabin?

I love my trd exhaust. Wife doesn't say anything about the sound on long trips.

Mine enjoys it. I’ve had it probably close to 3 years or so.

I have a Borla system... it won’t be as loud as your Flowmster system... but it has a nice low rumble, sounds great under WOT, and no freeway drone.

It's really quite quiet at cruising speed. Quieter than I expected. When you get on it though? Wowzers it sounds good.

No complaints from my other half. We had a convertible Mustang a few years ago that had flowmaster exhaust and she wouldn’t drive it due to the drone sound.

Isn't the point of a loud exhaust so that you don't have to listen to your wife while driving?
Vroom. What's that honey? Vroom I can't hear you vroom over the sound of the engine vroom vroom vroom

Good point. Especially on long drives the things I hear that come out of her mouth:

    1. You drive like my grandmother.
    2. You're driving too fast, what are you trying to be a race car driver
    3. Why are you following a slow car.
    4. Wife: I need to pee.
Me: Ok I will stop at the next exit.
Wife: I need to pee NOW!
Me: Would you like me to pull over at the side of the road.
Wife: No people will see me.
Me: Can you wait until I exit.
Wife: No I need to pee NOW!
Me: Well it's either you wait until the next exit or we pull over on the side of the road, which is it?
Wife: No I can't wait I need to PEE NOW!
Me: Well maybe you should buy one them Adult Diaper next time.
    Wife: WTF.........!@#@$%%#@%^%@$

The Outlaws are pretty much a race muffler. Not too surprised about the excessive drone. Should of went with FM 40 series. 2in/2 out with internal cross over. I have no drone at all and still sounds great when I punch it.

Or even Special 50. Before I dumped $1200 in TRD I would just change out the muffler.

I have a Flowmaster Super 50 with dual inlets and dual outlets.
It looks great, has a nice rumble at idle and sounds great when you're on the throttle.
There is a very slight drone at about 50 miles an hour but if you go 5mph slower or faster, it's non-existent.

Before you drop coin on TRD exhaust, check out Bamuffler. Great product. Lots of research/development went into the exhaust specially designed for Tundras.

I’ve been parking my truck near the door to my job. Whenever I walk by the door the thing that bothers me is the TRD exhaust. As big as out trucks are, if you look at them from beyond 15 ft, that exhaust look tiny!

It’s not bad when you are up on it but from a distance it’s beginning to make me mad!

I’m seriously considering ditching the TRD for something with a larger outlet, but not extremely loud - maybe just a larger tip.

    This is really annoying me.

I have the TRD exhaust and do a lot of driving. It's perfect for long trips because you don't even hear it at cruise speed. However, accelerating is a different story and sounds good.

my wife didn't even notice it!

my son did though. you hear the truck start from a ways off but not in an obnoxious redneck way. at cruise on the highway very little additional noise. I prefer a lower tone and if anything the TRD lowers the overall tone of the truck from stock. that, imo, is a positive.

I say this with appropriate respect for your hard earned money: go ahead and try the TRD. at worst you'd be out a few hundred if it doesn't work out but I'd bet it's the perfect solution.

It’s true. I have two things on my mind at all times. Exhaust being one of them. I’ve designed some crazy things for our trucks. And some of em work.

Our 8” system is my favorite for a truck taking family trips. It’s quiet on the highway. But nearly as loud as your flowmaster when you gun it. Best of both worlds.

    Call for details. 760-877-4234
