Do you guys flush your brake lines? I’ve heard things about it being gimmicky and just a money maker.

I have on several older vehicles. Like 10 yrs and older, you’ve got a 22 according to your profile, you shouldn’t have to worry about it for a long time.
If you’re asking because of your other vehicles, maybe be a little more specific, pics if you have them.

I have a 22 platinum and the dealership was trying to sell me a brake fluid flush for $225 and I thought that sounded incredibly high and I’ve heard of vehicles going their whole lives without one. 250k miles plus.

Wow, if you’re going to let dealership service your truck you should maybe look fora different dealership.
Where are you located, maybe another forum member can recommend one.

Brake fluid is hygroscopic - meaning it absorbs water naturally. Its a good idea to change your brake fluid at regular intervals

I agree, I don’t think it would need to be changed within a year though, maybe the reservoir cap was off.

Generally every 3 years or when changing pads is a good rule. Like someone stated already, brake fluid absorbs water. Water in lines are no bueno and cause corrosion and squishy brakes

The Car Care Nut recommends to change brake fluid every few years or so when you're changing your brakes, forgot about the exact recommendation but yes it's a good thing to change brake fluid if you're planning to keep truck for a long time

I’m guilty of never changing it. I change oil, diff’s, transfer case, tranny, radiator, and steering fluid (not anymore)

I have a brake fluid tester that told me my 11 year old truck was fine. But I paid 20 bucks for it off of Amazon so who knows if it’s accurate or not?

I’ve talked to mechanics who, say, don’t bother.

I change my pads and rotors. Twice a year (winter, tire, swap) I remove, clean, and lube the sliders.

On track cars I flushed the brake fluid every day.
I flush every 4 yrs on street cars. Every 2years on motorcycles.
It should be $40ish for fluid and an hour of labor. They'll have the tools to cycle the ABS pumps. $225 is at the higher end. I just paid $175 at the BMW dealer. Unless you've had extreme use I'm not sure why you'd already flush on a 2022 if the brakes are solid.

    This.
And if they're suggesting it on a truck that's under 2yrs old, they're either stupid or scam artists.

Is it not dependent on mileage? Only on time?

Correct. More humid regions = less time and vice versa
