I have a 2019 Toyota Tundra Platinum Edition and after a year and a half the Key Fob stopped working consistently so I ordered some comparable batteries from Amazon and put them in the key and still didn't work. Called the dealer - they were willing to do a new key for around $250 and I found another outfit that wanted only $50 for the programmer and #100 to send a new Ket. I had saved the original battery and decide to take out the cheap Chinese battery from amazon and got the same brand as was there before [Panasonic].
When I got it I puit it in and every thin has worked great ever since.
So, if the key FOB is not working just get the same brand battery that is in the key before you spend any money doing anything expensive. Got 4 Batteries for $6 - the dealer wanted $8 for a single battery.

Did you by chance replace your cargo light with LED bulbs?
The #1 reason for this post here is people replace the bulb with LEDs, which cause noise. The antenna for the fob is in the cargo light.
You can test this by setting the cargo light switch to off in the cab.

Isn't it just a coin battery?

Amazon sent me bulk Chinese batteries instead of Energizer that I ordered and when I wanted to leave a review saying exact same thing, they blocked me. The advertised batteries on Amazon website were in Energizer packaging and had expiration or "use by" date ...
I was very nice in my review and just said the batteries received were not as advertised ... Amazon said I can not be rude, etc. and blocked me.

the funny thing is they said batteries sold and shipped by Amazon ... The junk battery they sent me didn't work even for 1 day. The previous battery from factory was good for almost 9 years.

be careful bunch of thieves over there and they quite often block negative reviews.

When I called the Toyota dealer I was referred to the parts department and the person there told about the price for a new key and I said thank you but it was a bit much. Then they said I could get a battery from them and sometimes that worked. That's when I figured I didn't have much to lose so I spent the $6 for the brand batteries and everything went back to normal.
I try not to replace anything on the truck that wasn't there so there were no LED lights or anything added or changed. I was very surprised but I won't buy any more Chinese batteries for the FOB's again.
The batteries were Cr2016's and I got a dozen form Amazon for about $6 and those failed. the Panasonics I got at the local CVS and they work great.
I just don't want anyone getting new keys and programming when it isn't necessary.
    Thanks for your responses.

The switch being off is not always the case. I had the Vleds high output bulbs and switched to the Vleds non-RF bulbs. I still have the same issue, even with the switch off. :notsure:

I always advise people to not use Amazon. Plenty of better places to order from, and I'm talking for pretty much anything.

I know its an old post. But ty. This did fix my problem. I replaced the Cargo light with LED and my keyless stopped working consistently. I changed the key battery but the problem persisted. I change it back to the old bulb and the keyless started working consistently.

The remote antenna is at under your sharkfin if you have one. Same happened to mine when I swapped out for LED bulbs for the cargo lights. Hasn’t had a problem since I switched out to EVLMFG 3rd brake light with 2 BD S2.

They are widely considered ScAmazon for a reason. I won't touch Amazon for anything, haven't for years, can't trust them at all.
