Maybe not with the diesel. But the demand for a midsize HD in the US is real.

It’s not about the demand. It’s about its position in the market. Having a small to midsize truck creates new opportunity in the market. Having an HD that has 1/2 ton capability + probably cannibalizes F150 sales. Can’t have that now.

Maybe. But I think you’re thinking like Toyota, not Ford.

Ford does stuff like this all the time. They have Rangers with payload well into half ton territory. I have a buddy with a super crew short bed 4x4 F150 that has over 2k lb of payload on the door jamb…I’ve seen another guy’s door jamb on his 4x4 XLT F150 that reads 2818 lb of payload. That’s almost a ton and a half in their “half ton” segment offering.

Ford is the options king. Order it however you want it. It doesn’t seem beyond them to offer a version of this in the States.

That truck is not for us. I’ll be literally astounded if they ever offer something like that stateside. That is a foreign market truck 1000%.

Maybe. With the increasing amount of stuff Americans are trying to drag out into the woods or squeeze down tight trails, I’m not so sure.

I mean it’s basically a midsize truck that actually wouldn’t be overloaded with all the crap people load theirs up with and more than one person in the cab.

I don’t care about the super duty branding, and I don’t think the diesel v6 would fly here, but an honest midsize HD that can tow 10k with the payload to handle it? I would maybe buy my first Ford.

Of course people want it. But these manufacturers have a plan on what they want you to buy. They’re not just making what you want at a price you can afford. They want more.

I like it. The Ranger has already given the Tacoma a good run for the money.

Not being over payload would be a welcomed change for the overlander crowd that bolts on everything a credit limit can handle.

Not a chance that sees the US. It's too much of a threat to Ford's established and primary marketing tag line. Everyone thinks the F150 is the best selling vehicle in the country, but it isn't. People think it because they always put that tag line in the F150 ads. The actual line is that the "F Series" pickup is the best selling vehicle for XX years running. That is ALL Ford trucks included as one, and the F150 is the most popular variant.

The HD Ranger would take enough of a bite out of F150 sales to put that golden goose of marketing in jeopardy. It won't touch our shores any time soon.

300 hectares on single tank of kerosene
^ yes. Meanwhile we are stuck with our $100,000 appliance vehicles that are not serviceable and likely will not make 200,000 miles anymore. Americans (apparently) just have money falling out of their assholes as far as the rest of the world is concerned.

I read up some more on it. Apparently FTL asked Ford about it coming to the US; a spokesman responded and said there are no plans at this time. So, you guys are right.

Payload for the US market Ranger maxes out at 1711 lb for 4x4. Highest in the segment. This Aussie one is probably closer to 3k with its GVM of 9921 lb

I’d love an HD capable midsize.
Easy workaround: bring back the F100 Ranger badge for the US market. Then it’s still an F-series truck. :notsure:

Ford F-Bomb. Now that name would be epic.
