Okay, before anyone spams me... I did search. And Search. And Search. I must not be looking for the right words or right threads or . . . I even went down through pages of threads manually seeing if I could find it. Believe me, I have multiple hours into this search already.

Anyways, there was someone on here who modified some wireless chargers to sit flush in stock phone area. There was 2 of them side by side. All you saw was the round charging face that sat flush in the phone area. Looked very professional and stock. There were no cords going anywhere because everything was behind the console.

I wanna try to duplicate this and I was looking for their advise. If any one remembers the post and/or poster, can you point me in the right direction?

The chargers were mounted like this and all you saw was the round charging spot:

Thanks in advance for all your help.

    Thank you very much!

Yes, these are a couple of the very many threads I looked at, but not the one I remember.

The poster made something very similar to the Slee Offroad one you show (pic below), but his/her's had round pads in the center for the charging. I think he/she just bought a couple of the Belkin generic chargers off Amazon or similar and then modified the charging plate to accept them and keep them flush mounted. I wanted to find out how he/she modifed the mounting plate or provided a backing for the Belkin to mount to.

    Slee Offroad:

    Belkin:

And again, thank you to everyone for your help.

YES! YES, YES, YES!!!!! WooHoo!

So, how'd you mount them? Where did you run the 2 cords (I know there's only 1 outlet in the console). Other tip/tricks/hints???

    Woo hoo! Found your post!

If you've got any pics of your wiring when completed, that would be great!

That actually looks pretty good, I'm interested as well. @chavey2 if you end up doing this be sure to take pics along the way and do a write up if @Goobax doesn't already have one.

I used these mounts from Etsy, painted them with a self etching primer followed with a flat/matte black spray paint. I then used a plastic bonding epoxy to keep them in place from the back side. So long as you use the right hole saw bit and go so, it goes through pretty cleanly. Just make sure you order the right size for whatever chargers you have.

For the wiring, the “hardest” portion was hiding the wires for the charging pucks since they were so long. I didn’t want to use the USB ports in the arm rest so I made a power box to add a cigarette lighter and mounted this under a bracket in the floorboard that supports where the center console goes. I pulled power using a jumper harness I made with oem plugs so everything would be removable if needed.
I don’t have a lot of pictures of the wiring but I included what I have on my phone. Last picture is one I used from someone who did something similar, but I circled where I mounted that power box.

The simplest way is just to wire directly to the usb ports in the glove box though. The only reasons I over complicated mine with a relocated cig lighter and tucked wiring is I keep things in my glove box for protection that I don’t want to ever have snag on wires. I also should be getting more power from the cigarette lighter than I would from the usbs but haven’t confirmed with a volt meter. Someone is welcome to correct me if I am wrong in my assumption here.

Hey, thanks for that link. I don't have a 3D printer, but I know how to work Kydex plastic so maybe I could fab something up.

I've been looking at those magsafe chargers. I have an older (4 yrs) Samsung S9, which does accept wireless charging, but not magnetic. I know you can buy those magnetic rings on Amazon too, but don't want to buy unless I can confirm it will work.

Really, I'm not worried about fast charging. I just want the phone somewhere I can see it without all those mounts and cables on the AC vents. And maybe a little top off of power while driving home from work. (45 mins)

Okay, I did it! Thanks all for your help. Found some wireless chargers on Amazon that were meant to be installed flush into a desk top. They had a nice edge ring around them which made for a nice transition.

    upload_2024-6-8_16-30-55.png

I made sure to get the center measurements right for where the phone needs to sit. In my case, it was exactly 4" from the top of the console. I just centered it according to the lines already molded into the plastic and drilled a couple holes. I had some carbon fiber vinyl from a previous project so I covered the plastic just for looks. The lips on the charges cover that edge anyways. For now, I just pulled the cable through into the plug into the console. When I get my dual battery setup complete, I'll run it to that so that I can charge even when the truck is off.

I’ve been waiting for a dual wireless charger that is plug and play. Just installed this Slee Off-road dual wire super easy install (took about 30 minutes) looks very OEM and seems to be good quality. It gets power from the tray on the dash.

Yeah, I saw that one too. Can you tell me, how does it plug in? You said "in the tray in the dash" - Got a pic?

Thanks! So it's a "plug-n-play" into the cigarette lighter up on top of the dash. Hmm?? Makes me wonder if we can get a connector plug (off Amazon, ebay, etc) to make the USB ones work too? This does make a much cleaner install.

Question: The black plug that goes into the back of the charger(pic 7b below) - is that USB-C? Or a 2 wire connection? Or something else? I'm wondering if the wire from the back of the cigarette lighter is pulling a full 12V or is there a drop down on the cable or in the back of the charger?

It’s some sort of 2 wire connector. The kit comes with a wiring hardness with two connectors on each end. One end plugs into each of the chargers and then then on the other end one of the connectors plugs into the cigarette outlet and then one connector plugs into the power source that was originally supplying the the cigarette outlet.

The chargers are 10watt. So far it appears to have a good charging speed
