So I think I've made up my mind even though I didn't get much feedback on my previous post this morning (prolly wrong forum).

I'm gonna run the fox shocks on my 2010 Crewmax 4WD and am wanting to get the BDS 4.5 later this coming year.

So question is can I run the 2.0 coilovers on the BDS 4.5 lift or do I HAVE to run the 2.5?

From the little I know 2.0 are just way to small for our heavy trucks go with at least 2.5

@fisherman951 what kit are you running? Is it the zone 5? And what application or type of driving are you doing?

I’m on a 5” zone off-road kit but with no coilovers using my stock shocks with the extender.

@fisherman951 I've been looking at the zone for almost 2 years now and was dead set on it until I saw custom offsets video explaining the difference and more so the warranty piece.

Have you had any trouble at all with your ride and what type of driving do you do?

Dont buy coilovers now if you want a bracket lift in the future.

Wait to get them at the same time and buy longer coilovers that fit the lift height

The idea of the 2.5 inch coilover is performance and being able to drive harder. But bracket lifts are not intended for hard driving. Kind of a paradox

@zachzap361 hey man I have the 2.5 up front and the 2.0 rears and I have no complaints it’s holding up just fine. That being said I’m not doing 100mph in the dirt. I know the guy from victory had the 2.0 rear and 2.5 and he beats it up with no issues.

No problems here and going on almost 2 years. It will be coming off soon tho as I want to go faster on dirt and sand. Don’t get fooled by the kit tho. Tons u can do but know ur limits. I have had it in the beach some dunes and some pretty wild trails and it has held up fine.

Yea I mean all this goes into me trying to decide what lift to get. Obviously I'm not doing as said above down straight rock and dirt but some sand dunes along with back roads at my ranch for his hunting season and a main daily driver.

@fisherman951 sounds like zone would be good for what I'm trying to accomplish and I got 2 kids younger than 2 that I got get in and out at times.

@Hbjeff it is a paradox and agree to that point but yet you still see guys run the BDS 4.5 or 7 with the added coilovers so since it comes like that, are you saying it shouldn't? Just trying to understand.

I have 3 kids 8, 5 , and 4 so I’m with ya. What @Hbjeff is trying to tell u don’t buy coilovers now and then try to use them on the lift. It’s better to buy extended coilovers for your lift that way you get rid of the spacer.

    Hbjeff is saying this...
If you buy coilovers now, you'll either have to buy again after the drop bracket or you'll be running spacers on top. I believe he was implying to wait on the shocks until you get your setup bought.

On that note, why do you want a drop bracket lift. Especially for the style wheeling you mentioned above.

Go solid 3" with 37s. 37s fit with some imagination and 35s fit no problem with proper wheel.offset.

You'll have MUCH better ground clearance running 35s/37s on a coil over 3" vs a drop bracket. AND you'll have a lot of $$ in your pocket to pay for other mods of gas money, etc

Once you go drop bracket, it's costly to go back. Subframe gets cut out.

Apologies I could have explained it better.

In comparing a 2.0 to a 2.5 shock. The 2.0 shock is a little small for a fullsize truck to pound around in the dirt. The 2.5 is much more suited for that. BUT a drop bracket lift is not good for banging around in the dirt at speed. So the thing to consider is whether a 2.5 coilover is worth it on a drop bracket truck. You want a longer shock setup with the lift, but you don’t really have to spend the extra for a 2.5 in that setup

Either way, you do not want a stock length coilover with a lift. You want an appropriate longer unit like this

@14burrito I had tried asking all the info I ended up getting on here on 2nd gen and should have posted it on suspension. But regardless all great information and couldn't thank you guys enough. But into the reasoning behind me not wanting the 3" is cause I've had 3" the past 10 years and have sadly gotten bored with it being at 6'3 in height.

I've seen so many tundras over the years running kits from coils to one at my work with the BDS 7 and I just want something different but as everyone else I want to get it right the first time.

@Hbjeff I really do apologize, still learning as I go but you definitely cleared it up and now understand why lots of guys run the 2.5's.

But all in all I'm just really torn and feel like I should stick with a 3 from either fox or even toytec cause everyone praises them but again for me and my height and having 3 for ever I just want something different that still gives me the look I'm going for.

My other post on 2nd gen has a few pictures of what I got but I'll throw them in here.

@fisherman951 I actually plan on going to a whole new wheel and tire set up, specifically method NV or Grid at 17 or 18 with Nitto Ridge at 35

Go to icon’s website. They show how clearly you can fit a 35x12 tire with just a small lift.

Then you dont have to buy the big lift kit!

Honestly, I think the 4.5 lift kits state they fit 35s...so the larger lifts don't necessarily equate to larger tires.

I guess my questioning is what is so bad about going higher to the 4.5 or 5 or even 6 or 7? I want to buy into the toytec boss or the fox 2.5 but

    1. I can't seem to find a website that offers affirm with the 2.5's cause that's what I'm leaning towards
    2. After looking at the build that im really trying to go too https://www.customwheeloffset.com/wheel-offset-gallery/466830/2012-toyota-tundra-xd-xd825-zone I have to go back to the 5 or even 4 fabtech or 4.5 BDS.
    3. @fisherman951 is running a 5 STOCK and has a sick ride in my opinion along with @IB-IN-YA running a RC 4.5
    4. @Like a PRO has by far one of the SICKEST builds I have seen on here using all major companies

Im trying to love the low 3" but I can't especially since im at that height right now.

Better off with 2 inch coilover lift anyways for 35’s
