Help me understand this. The fox shocks that come on the Trd pro are good for 50k miles. At that point it’s recommended to have them shipped to fox so they can rebuild them. I just sent in a pair that I bought used. From the time I mailed them off to when I get them back will be 1 month. They take 3 weeks to service. What do people do every 50k they have to have there truck apart until the shocks come back?
Yes I can put the factory’s back in but that’s a lot of money to pay a shop to take off and put back on twice. Trying to understand the logic behind this.
Local shops here in the Bay Area all recommended to ship them to fox because they didn’t service fox. Seems crazy to me because I use my truck daily and can’t afford to not have my truck for a month

Any off-road shop worth a shit should be able to rebuild them in a day (make appointment, they order parts, drop off, then remove and rebuild and reinstall). There's nothing that takes weeks to rebuild shocks, people rebuild them in the middle of the desert with pretty basic tools all the time when out tuning. I'd guess most people don't know their TRD Pro shocks can even be rebuilt.

I had to send mine off as well; as no one local could/would service mine. Luckily they come in tomorrow, but the shop won’t get to them till Monday. It sucks being without my truck.

Does anyone know the part kit number for rebuilds on these?

How long have you been waiting? Your truck has just been sitting there apart? I just mailed mine off to the fox factory they told me 3 weeks.

I have a weird but "fortunate" situation: I found the leak a couple days before I was scheduled for surgery. I did get them shipped off on 3/11; a week after my surgery. It will have been taken 3 weeks to send them off and get them back come tomorrow. When it’s all said and done, I will have been without my truck for almost 5 weeks. But 1-2 weeks of the total 5 weeks has just been non normal/custom down time.

I’m still waiting for fox to tell me the cost on the rebuild. They quoted me $136 per shock does that sound about right from your experience?

I personally would not buy Fox TRD Pro shocks. From my understanding, not your average Joe blow can rebuild this style shock and needs to be sent into Fox. Maybe someone like @AccuTune Offroad can rebuild these or shed some light on the process.

For me, I would be buying some King/Fox/ADS Shocks with a N2 bottle/charge kit. It takes me longer to get my shocks off than rebuilding them. 38.00 later plus whatever my N2 costs are I have a new shock. They break down pretty easy and parts are readily available.

Yes it does. I paid $150/e for the rebuild and revalve services. I think King said they wanted around the same.

I watched filthy motor sports do a king rebuild video. It didn’t look to bad. I might try it next time. My problem is getting the front off/on. I’ve never done it before.

I guess I should start saving now to buy a whole new set of TRD pro fox shocks so I can just put them on while I send the other ones out LOL:bananadance:

The rep at fox told me they have only had a small amount of Tundra shocks in for the rebuild. He said so far it’s been mainly Tacoma. It will be interesting to see what happens when all the pro owners need to rebuild there shocks and fox gets a bunch of these at once.

They're all essentially the same, and for a normal rebuild you're just popping the bottom cap off, pulling the guts out and swapping out a handful of seals. 90% of the shit in that exploded diagram you can ignore/not touch. Then buy some shock oil/ATF and a home beer brewing tank for Nitrogen and a $40 Amazon regulator and you're golden.

That’s why I’m trying to find the part #. A friend of mine rebuilds all kinds of shock and suspensions and is an engineering wonder. Planning on doing them together when it’s due.

this is a complete king rebuild. It doesn’t look to bad for a first timer. He goes through a lot of detail and "tricks".
