Hello all. I just bought a ‘21 TRD Crew Cab Pro with the Fox shock tuned suspension. Truck has 34k on it now, and I’m super psyched to pick it up next week. Question please, what kind of life expectancy can I expect to get out of the shocks? I know they’re painfully expensive to replace. Truck will be a daily driver for me roughy 8-10k miles per year with occasional trips down the beach during striper season. Thanks.

Thanks ryan, rebuild at 50k, ouch! I just sent them a question about cost and turn around time.

Cost me 100 each way to ship them to fox.
Rebuilding ran me 500ish. Was not worth it, can’t tell if they did much at all. Charged me for replacement decals but didn’t have them in stock.

It’s now my understanding that if they are not visibility leaking or stuck they don’t need a rebuild.

Check the build link in my signature.
I’ve got 66k on my truck and no signs of needing them done yet.
If you’re out running hard, more frequently, but for regular driving and mall crawling you’ve got a lot of life to go

Here is my take on performance shocks:

Rebuild before leaking. If you don't catch a small leak, you can piss out all the N2 and start cavitation inside the shock. No Bueno.

Find a local shop that is fox certified to rebuild. Shipping is going to kill you...so is downtime.

If this isn't a possibility, I would start investing in a shock that is easily rebuilt (kings are piss drunk easy) and maybe invest in some tools to perform your own rebuilds. This is so easy to do.

I personally would buy a N2 zero loss charge kit so one can check nitrogen pressures regularly.

I have FOX shocks in my mountain bike. All it saw is dirt and abuse. I cracked the frame in two spots. When I opened them for rebuild after 5 or 6 years of use they were like new. No wear. Oil is clean. Don't think my wife can abuse FOX in her TRD PRO Sequoia. They will quicker rust through because of Massachusetts winter salt.

Absolutely rebuild shocks. Like changing your oil must do. Just because it isn’t leaking doesn’t mean it’s ok lol

Any further updates on this? I have 90k and they seem to be performing just fine. Dealership does the maintenance and replacement or servicing them has never come up. Rides as well as it did when I bought it. Only thing getting done on next service is oil and brakes. Will do trans and trans case next with coolant flush after. I did hear that the trans case takes a different viscosity fluid as well and it's something to make sure they are tracking to.
