Well, its hard to even type this as I have always been a Toyota guy. Know these trucks back and forth. Always done all my own work and love them. My current setup is awesome with a great lift, 37s, topper and decked system.

That said, with a growing family, towing/payload needs, I am thinking of picking up a Ford F350 Superduty. I refuse to own a diesel but its the 7.3 gas engine that is calling my name. I haven't yet decided if I will keep my tundra, but I am strongly considering the superduty purchase.

Anyone have one and could give me some feedback on their feelings? I rather ask the opinion of someone who went from a Tundra to a superduty rather than post on the superduty forums. I will just get a biased opinion favoring the Ford. Thanks!

I have personally been in a F-350 tremor (7.3/10 spd) in Lariat trim for week. You will want to get the 5 star tuning so the transmission isn't shifting like a meth head. After that, solid truck. Truck had a power steering hose leak when new, but after that has been a solid truck he takes on construction sites/business use daily.

My buddy went to a F250 tremor and his wife hates riding in it due to how rough it is. His is powerstroke.

Not to scare you but working in automotive accident reconstruction I have seen too many gas F250/F350s burn up in wrecks (some minor) for me to ever own one.

Has me wondering if its just bad luck or do the fuel lines rupture easily.

Wonder if there's a difference in suspension between the two motors? My friends rides like a dream (F-350). I haven't taken it for a drive since he put fox shocks, small lift and 37's though.

Completely different class of trucks. If you require the towing and payload specs of a 350, you shouldn't be doing it with a Tundra. If you don't need it, you are just wasting money.

    My opinion of course.

I find it hard to believe the F350 rides like a dream. My buddy had the factory Tremor suspension, rode rough. Swapped for Fox with resis and 37s on fuels. We tried lowering his tire pressure, nothing helped. Still rough. He took the 37s off and put his stock 35s back on. Still rough. Now, it doesn’t bother me, but I like big trucks and I cannot lie. His wife hates it. It is rough.

edit: pics or it didn’t happen. This weekend after swapping back to 35s

Maybe I'm just used to HD trucks. :notsure:My GMC rides pretty nice depending on what tire I'm running. The BFG KO2's I lost some ride comfort.
My F-250 at work is probably the worst riding truck I have ever been in. It's brutal and that's being nice.

I did the complete opposite. I had a 2022 Ford F350 CrewCab 6.7L Diesel Platinum Tremor. I sold the F350 Tremor and went to my pre-owned Tundra. The F350 was a fantastic truck and even though mine was a 6.7L PowerStroke, I really really enjoyed all the 7.3L Godzilla V8's I drove. Great engine! My decision sell the F350 was simply because it was more than I needed and was only used a couple times a week. It was basically a $90K driveway ornament. It was hard to justify it and was sold for a profit due to the Covid19 chaos.

I'm happy with the Tundra, it is what I need. I miss some of the options and features but, I know the Tundra will be more reliable and trouble free down the road. I wish you the best of luck with your decision and I think you will be happy with the F350 7.3. I don't know if you're buying new or pre-owned....but, if you're going pre-owned, stay away from the first year 7.3L SuperDuty's. They did have some lifter, coil, spark plug and transmission issues. I can't remember if they had axle issues too or if that was just the 6.7L.

I thought my '22 F350 Tremor road fine for a Super Duty. But, I didn't expect a plush ride when I bought it.

Lots of good feedback. I havent heard of any kind of fuel related/fire stuff like that, interesting. I dont mind harsh rides, although I would be altering the stock suspension somewhat. Love my wife but dont care about her ride quality opinion :)

And yes, with wife, 3 kids, a dog, topper, decked drawers, 3 bikes on a hitch rack, and shit tons of gear (for camping and traveling to our place 6 hours away) im positive that I am exceeding the payload. I don't tow anything over 6,000 lbs but I dont feel confident in the Tundra with it already maxed out on payload and adding the trailer. I won't do it with my family riding with me. We live in a mountain state (Idaho) with tons of wildlife in our region too. A superduty with a small lift and front bumper is going to be even safer than my Tundra (which I already feel safe in).

As for the gas vs. diesel dilemma, I cannot stand the DEF and EGR issues. Doesn't seem like its worthwhile to take the chance on those issues when I dont tow heavy or often enough. The power would be fun but thats it. Also, I do lots of offroad fishing/hunting stuff and I think the gas would be better suited.

This is with 37's and suspension work done.

He also did a rear suspension drop (1.5") for leveling it a bit.IMG_2686.jpg

Really appreciate the reply. I am the same as you when it comes to the diesel. Cant beat the power but as mentioned in my previous reply, for various reasons, I cant justify it. I think the 7.3 is a great option. And good to know on the first year 7.3! I want to buy a new 2024 but with the Ford union strike, they are saying orders are 9 months out. I may wait or pickup a 2023.

Have you considered a GM with the 10 speed Allison gasoline combo? This combo might bounce me out of the diesel market on the next truck purchase.

I see most superduty guys putting spacer/puck lifts on their rigs with blocks in the rear. With the stiff f350 rear leafs, this sets it up for a terrible ride. It's just like the Tundra posts we see on the forum, people put cheap very por suspension components on their rigs, and wonder why it rides like shit. IDK - I've always been a fan of spending money on the best suspension and enjoying the result. Think its the same for any truck.

Allison transmissions are proven quality - but I cannot get into a GM. Had one in a past life and had way to many issues. That is actually what pushed me to Toyotas.

GM HD truck? I wouldn't compare a 1/2 ton GM to a HD drivetrain. There is a big gap there.

no, it was a 1/2 ton. Good point, I can't speak to the HD.

Yep. I see the same thing.

When on his bachelor week trip in the F-350, we had enough beer/hard liquor to solve the worlds problems and 6 mountain bikes. I'm thinking that didn't help that much in the ride department though. At the time, the suspension was stock except the rear lowering kit.

I would test drive all three 1 tons. You owe it to yourself to eliminate what you don't like.

And Tremors come from the factory with rear blocks. Really stupid but thats how they achieve the "lifted look". So dumb and doesn't help the ride...

You are right. Lots of coin to drop and should checkout other options. I do prefer the looks of the Fords though...

    I went from a Tundra to a 7.3 Tremor.

The tech, styling, and power of the truck were phenomenal. It has a ton more power than the Tundra. Towed my TT very well.

My specific truck had an odd vibration issue that Ford acknowledged but could not resolve, so I moved to a GMC Sierra. I would have traded for another Ford had I been able to find one locally and test drive it first, but at the time that was impossible.
