Have a 2018 Tundra that I would like to replace the front grille emblem.( current one is weathered) I know the radar stuff is behind the grille. I’ve heard that the backside of the emblem has 2 star washers on each side besides the tabs. Will I have to remove the grille completely just to replace the emblem or will it come off from the front using plastic trim tools? Or could I use a headlight restoration kit to clean up the plastic a little?

    thanks for any advice.

Wrap it with VVivid smoke tint and it will look nice and not impair the radar (and get rid of the chrome).

It will not just pop out. There is a screw in the back of it along with the tabs. The emblem is glass and just over $300. As mentioned, your best and cheapest option would be to put a light tint over it.

Looks there’s 2 like star washers LF/RT clipped on 2 plastic tabs. Looks like I’ll have to remove the front grille to get access to remove the 2 star washers before the emblem will come out.

Is the sensor for the radar located top right under the little black cover?

Are you talking about the removable cover on the top.of the grill towards the battery? That is the connector that has to be unplugged before you remove the grill. The sensor itself is a box that is screwed onto the grill behind the emblem.

I actually have a gentleman across the street from me that does window tinting out of his like 5 car garage. Would I be able to just use the VVid tint around the emblem with out removing it and it won’t effect the TSS radar?

Yes, you should be able to tint it without removing it.

No issue with the tint interfering with the radar?

This is what the sensor behind the emblem looks like. The connector is the one that is right under the panel on the grill.

It’s where the dealership ( Recall ) put the big sticky looking bandaid on to weather proof it.

You could do a light smoke or you could do a medium smoke like Michelle did on hers. No issues at all with the sensor.

Looks good….. thank you to all that chimed in.. looks like tinting the emblem is cheaper way, all the scratches on the emblem and harsh AZ summers was bugging me, didn’t wanna spend $300 + for one at the dealership.

Hello, can someone offer me some advice please?

    2018 Tundra Limited.
    Faded/scratched front emblem.

I removed the grill, removed the emblem.

Wet sanded with a 12V drill attachment pad, 1000 then 3000, then 5000 grit.

Used V32 and then V38 with a drill attachment buffing pad.

Emblem looked brand new when wet with V38 polish.

As soon as I re-installed and the polish "dried" it still looks like this.

It looks better than it did originally, but I doesn't look perfectly clear like it did when it was first polished in my garage.

    Thank you!

you still have scratches in it. You are going to have to do more polishing from what the pictures show.

Not sure how much damage you did with drill and wet sanding. In my opinion, I would have wet sanded by hand and not used a drill.

Oh shoot, I didn't think of that; I thought the drill would be better, but I'll bet you are right, I should have hand sanded it instead.

    Thank you!
