My 2010 recently crossed 200k miles, and I've been replacing suspension parts. Earlier this year I installed Bilstein 5100's and replaced the rotors, and last weekend I replaced the upper control arms and outer tie rod ends. It's improved a lot, but I still have a slight shake in the steering wheel, a pop here and there, and what feels like grinding or vibrating in the front end.

Next up I'm thinking of the front wheel bearings. I don't have access to a press and would prefer the easy solution, so I'm in favor of buying the bearing and hub assembly. My question is, my truck is a two wheel drive, but most information and videos on this I've seen is for 4wd. Do I still need the 39mm socket? It looks easy either way, but I haven't taken it apart further than the rotors.

I can't say that what your describing is due to wheel bearings, but if you want to change them I recommend just getting the hub assembly that Dorman makes. Avoids any need to press bearings making it a super easy job. For 2WD, take the rotor off, unbolt the hub assembly (4 bolts IIRC), bolt on the new one. Done.

Search Amazon for Dorman 950-006 around $120. Also was available at my local O'Reillys too for around $200.

Thanks, I've had that exact one on my Amazon wishlist for a while, seems fine for what I need. I don't think the pops I hear are the bearings, but seemed like the wheel shake and the general grinding and vibrating feeling might be. It's just over 200k so I don't think it can hurt.

Yes there are 4 bolts. They are captive so they do not come out of the hub when you remove it.

You do not need the 39mm on a 2wd.

Cool, thanks. Do I need anything to pry it off once the four bolts are loose? I did finally find a video of someone doing a 2wd and I think they still had to convince it to come loose. Might be mixing that up with something else though.

It should pop out pretty easy. If not just tap it with a hammer.

Popping could be lower control arm/cam bolts.

Yeah, haven't narrowed it down yet. It's gotten better since changing the upper control arms and sway bar links in the last few weeks, but there's still something. Eventually I'll replace it all but I hoped to leave the lower control arms for a while since they'll be expensive between parts and needing a shop. Front bearings are easy and relatively cheap.

Oh, are there torque specs for those 4 bolts? It looked like they weren't something you could get a torque wrench on. I think the video I found mentioned putting a bit of Loctite on them instead.

I ordered the hubs linked earlier, figured it can't hurt. Anyone know about the torque or how tight to make it, and/or Loctite? I haven't looked at them much but didn't think my torque wrench would fit on them.
