Hey folks, I have a 2008 Tundra with 218,000 miles and am having an issue with burning up fuel pumps. I have replaced the fuel pump 4 times in the last 3 years, each pump only lasting 6-9 months. The first time the truck drove fine, parked it and a few hours later it would not start. Pulled a fuel line off at the engine and not getting fuel so I replaced the pump and it started right up. Second time was 8 months later rolling down the highway the truck just shut off with no warning. Replaced the pump again and truck ran fine. Third pump the truck was idling for a bit then shut it off, an hour later it would not start. Most recently I stopped at a rest stop on route 95 in NC for about 20 minutes and truck again would not start. Towed to a mechanic who got a pump and got me back on the road in a couple hours and the truck is running fine again, but who knows for how long. Any ideas why I keep going through fuel pumps? I had my mechanic and the recent one in NC check everything possible and both said they could find no reason why pumps keep going bad. Anyone have any ideas?

Are you using OEM fuel pumps from toyota or something from the local parts store?

I installed the URD fuel pump kit on my truck, it bypasses the internal filter and you install an external filter in its place, and you get to choose whatever brand fuel pump you want, I went with an Aeromotive fuel pump

I am using fuel pumps from O'Reilly and Autozone as they were the only ones that had them in stock each time.

Is the URD kit an external pump outside the tank or internal like stock?

It replaces the actual fuel pump in your current housing.

These trucks don't like aftermarket fuel pump assemblies, so if you need to replace it again, get one from the dealership, or an online toyota dealership. I wouldn't even use the housing you currently have for the URD kit since it's not an OEM part

Are you replacing fuel pumps or the fuel pump control module? There is a fuel pump control module back on the frame rail. It seems to be a more common failure than the actual pump.
Any chance you have a faulty control module that is burning up pumps. Even cheap knock fuel pumps should make it more than 6 months.
