    My 2002 Tundra Sr5 3.4 4x2 been sitting for a year. Was operational when parked. Installed new coils, wires and plug before trying to start it. Replaced fuel filter but checked for fuel flow before installing filter by cranking the engine ...no fuel to filter. Is there a way to check the fuel pump without removing the tank. Thanks for any help.

    Jumper wire across a relay?
    Or swap relays around?
    Or check for voltage at the relay?

    i havent had to do it to the tundra (so i dont know the specifics off hand), but i did it on my dads ranger.

    You can use a stethoscope to listen for it whirring/charging as someone else turns the key to the "on" position. May even be able to use a screwdriver successfully. Or you can use a meter to check the voltage at the connection closest to the tank. If you have voltage back there your problem lies somewhere upstream. Don't know the specs on voltage offhand.

    I believe that the fuel pump will only cycle when the key is in the "start" position. If you just turn the key to "on" the pump will not operate (unless of course the engine is running). Most vehicles will prime with key on but a lot of Toyotas do not.

    I'll have to look into that. I simply assumed. Thx for pointing this out.

    Since it's been sitting for a year, how did things look under hood while changing the plugs, in particular around main relay box under hood. A year is a long enough time for varmints to damage wires and what not. Before having to fight the fuel pump, I would make sure things look good underhood, plug and unplug fuel pump relay incase corrosion has found it's way to contacts. I would even suggest testing the fuel pump relay.

    Note for below drawing....
    Terminals
    * 1 & 2 is relay coil
    * 3 to 4...pump low speed contacts
    * 3 to 5...pump hi speed contacts

    There is a fuel shutoff feature that operates during an accident or if the security system is triggered. Not sure the wiring or mechanism to check for that.
