    I have a 2016 Tundra.
Looking to install a hidden kill switch interrupting the fuel pump circuit.
Anyone know if the fuel pump wires are located somewhere under the dash or side panel ?, I was hoping to find the ground wire for the fuel pump , if you know where these are located please let me know where to look and what color the wire will be

    Crankshaft sensor will do it

I know where the fuse is located, and im not interested in the fuse or fuse box as those are all hots.

2mchfun, tell me more regarding crankshaft sensor ? what is that, where is that , and how would you go about installing a kill switch there

As touchy as the crank sensor can be somtimes, I’m not sure I would go this route…

    you might be right.

maybe a better choice would be the fuel pump relay .
can someone remind me where the the fuel pump relay is located on a 2016 5.7

So many options if just for theft deterrent. The fuel is way in the back, most relays and controls under the hood.

Why not a “switch” inline with the key/ignition switch.

For example I would buy a generic key on/off switch. Wire it inline with the factory key ignition switch. Hide it in the bottom of the console or somthing. If the small generic key is not in the switch and turned on, the factory key will do nothing when you put it in the steering column and turn it.

Good to park it for a long time, take both keys with you. Then when you get back out the generic one in and leave it “on” to use the truck like normal

I want to install the kill switch into the fuel circuit, so if someone tries to start it , the engine will crank (make noise) but not fire up.
If i tap into the ignition and install a switch , then it will just be a dead key.
I want the truck to make noise if someone is trying to start it, it will draw attention to my vehicle and make the potential car thief give up faster.

Now im thinking that the fuel pump ECU might be a good place to tap into. It is installed near the rear driver wheel mounted to the frame somewhere. I believe it has 2 harness's , one harness is power from the key and the other harness goes to the top of the fuel pump.

Does anyone know which harness has the in coming power and what color the wire is?

A waterproof exterior switch on the ground wire to the fuel pump ecu would prob do it. Might be a pain to lay under there and turn it on/off. Depends on where the switch is mounted

    Thanks,
but I wouldnt install the actual switch there at the fuel pump control module where id need to get under the truck to activate it,
id run the wires all the way up into the cab (and back) somewhere where i can reach while sitting in my seat.

im looking at the diagram and i think I can figure it out.
I see the fuel control module , should I assume the 2 wires at the top represented by beige and yellow are power coming in?
maybe 1 of them being power for fuel level when key is half way turned , and the other being supply (HOT) for fuel pump power hot when cranking and in key run position?
If yes, which wire does what?

Just so you know, the fuel pump is also somewhat sensitive and it is ground switched, variable speed. Not simply off/on.

I would like to find a wire where i can make a safe cut installing a on/off switch somewhere within the fuel pump system. (obviously without creating any issues)
either before the fuel pump control module , after the fuel pump module or somewhere in the cab with one of the wires that goes back to the module.
I do not want to do it at the fuse box, relay box .
im open for any other ideas or locations

It could be handy at oil change time if done right. My old Honda could have one ecu fuse pulled and I could crank without spark or fuel to prime the oil system. Of course the pcm in the truck controls the starter so that won't work...

    sorry for the late reply,
I have not done this project yet.
I am thinking of interupting one of the wires at the fuel pump module running wires and a switch up into the cab somewhere.
But not sure which of the wires on the fuel pump module to cut , I am open to suggestions if anyone has knowledge of the wires in that location
