Considering what is going on with battery powered vehicle push. What do you think is in near future for Tundra say by 2025? I think if this battery powered vehicle push keeps going things are going to change rapidly over next few years. To stay close top you got to keep advancing with times. I think this battery powered stuff is going to take on a life of its on. I see hybrid with more battery power but still using gas engines. I don't know if I would like all electric vehicles?

I think if California passes that whole electric only by 2035 that will be a big chunk of the market. But I don’t see how you can go 100 percent electric by then so whatever. Even on all new sales. Fully expect the auto makers and gas companies to lobby hard against that one.

I have a 2020 I’m gonna drive it til it dies and isn’t worth fixing. After that I’ll probably have to get an electric truck if I want another new one.

They can’t go electric. There is no infrastructure to support it. No one will buy a car they can’t charge.

I was thinking of a hybrid with a little more battery power. Not a true electric, I do not see myself ever buying an electric vehicle. Not ready for that in big numbers.

Are you asking about what we want or what we expect?

I want hydrogen fuel cell trucks or hydrogen-electric hybrids. I expect BEVs leading to a sharp decline in RV sales and general outdoors fun far from the grid.

Toyota has just announced they are building a battery plant here in NC…Expectation is manufacturing will begin in 2025. Billions of dollars being spent. Hate to say it but with this type of money and commitment from Toyota I think I know where this is heading unfortunately.

The need to tow kills an all battery for me. A more efficient hybrid would be good with me.

Based off prior Tundra history? Lol, not expecting much at all.

Would love to be proved wrong and see a plug-in hybrid Tundra Prime where the hybrid actually added performance like it does on say the RAV4.

But with how poorly a job they did with the current hybrid system in the Tundra, I don’t see them doing much of anything to it in the near future. Simply not enough sales volume.

I am a bit more optimistic / expect to see them do some cool things with the upcoming Tacoma / 4Runner in terms of BEV and PHEV in the near future.

They are going to have to with the Tacoma with how popular and well reviewed the Ford Maverick is, the new Ford Ranger next year, and I have to admit that the new GMC Canyon looks like they’ve knocked it out the park and has an absolute beast of a motor.

4Runner will hopefully get the same treatment to battle with the Bronco, PHEV Wrangler, and the new Grand Cherokees.

Haha, but I’ve also been driving Toyota trucks for over 25 years straight now (two Tacomas, 3 Tundras, and a 4R)……… so I’m not holding my breath.

By 2025 my 2012 will be near 200k miles and still going strong.

I hate to guess what fill ups are going to cost.

No cares regarding EV's, they're cool, but not practical for my uses.

Hope to have my reserved tri-motor Cybertruck by then, if they keep on track.
    500mi range
    14,000lb towing
    3500lb payload
    0-60 in 2.9

Not sure if Im gonna keep it but if it gets even over 400mi range not pulling or carrying anything, I’ll be likely to hold onto it. We shall see.
There will be plenty of used Lightnings by then also that can have an extended range battery slapped on it.

The Tundra probably won't change much this decade since it was just revamped and, as others have pointed out, generally has low volume numbers making the ROI on all that tricky. But that being said, it's no secret that Toyota is aiming for an EV Tacoma around MY25. https://www.gearpatrol.com/cars/g38756615/toyota-electric-pickup/
