Good day, hope you're all doing well. I'm new to the forum but have owned my SR5 TRD OR without the premium package for about a year now and love the truck. My truck exhibits some what I think is odd shifting behavior and I wanted to see if anyone else has this, I haven't had luck searching for other reports of it here or elsewhere online.

Basically, the truck when accelerating and shifting to a point below 3000 RPM will do the initial shift, and then half a second or so later drop another hundred to two hundred RPM. This creates an unpleasant jolt each time the truck shifts. Interestingly it doesn't do this above 3000 RPM, meaning if I really have my foot in it and it goes up a gear say from 4500 to 3200 RPM it will shift nicely and not do that little RPM drop.

I will try and get a video to add to this thread when I'm driving tomorrow but I'm open to ideas on what it might be. I may head to one of the local dealers and see if I can test drive another tundra to see if it shifts like that as well.

On truck: 11k miles, 5k OCI so far. Build date Aug or 2023.

As designed. What you feel is the transmission locking up the torque converter in the gears it is designed too do.

Ah that makes sense, I'm not super familiar with how torque converters work but from the 10000 foot view I think I get it anyway. Bummer that it's not smoother but if it's how it's supposed to be that does make me feel better about it, at least I won't be wondering. Thanks.

I've never had any automatic transmission that shifted harsh when the torque converter locked up after shifting. Especially at light throttle settings. Hmmmm.?

Agreed. I don't have any jolts when the converter locks up.

OK, that's good to know too. I'll at least ask about it at service next time I'm by the dealer and see what they say.
