I have been searching for a way to see what gear my 2023 Platinum is in. I tried several apps and have emailed the folks at OBD Fusion. They have great communication and keep saying support for 2022-2023 is coming, but nothing has ever showed. I have been trying the lesser known apps for iPhone. Finally found one that works! It shows what gear the truck is in, torque converter lock status, and trans temp at different locations. The only thing I can’t find in it is an actual boost gauge, it has the actual manifold pressure. Best part is it’s a free app. $6.99 if you remove ads.
The question is, why can the other apps seem to find these PIDs?
    Bryan

9/29. Found a boost gauge. It is “Calculated Boost” sensor, but in the vehicle settings change boost type from “auto” to “MAF”

Yes curious how this works as well. Did you have to purchase an OB reader, and which one did you select in the app

You also want an air temperature at intercooler, BTDC, all VVT hubs angles, TCV duty cycle, MAF, etc ;)

    Sorry, I couldn't help myself!
The same app exists for Andoridz - will test.

I have a Veepeak LE (low energy Bluetooth) OBD adapter. That way I use my phone as the gauge and still have CarPlay on the Dash screen. Hopefully Apple will allow OBD gauges on the CarPlay screen soon
I tried the app with my Veepeak LE and a Wi-Fi version. Just selected which style of adapter I was using and it connects easily

Danger to manifold!! Yep, you would think if you watch the actual pressure which seems to be Boost+Barometric pressure

It is Much better than the other paid apps I tried for Trans info

Jay from Banks Power here. As you may have heard, we're trying to display transmission gear in the '22 Tundra on our iDash. We tried the app and cannot produce the same results even when selecting "Toyota 2016 - OBD II/ EOBD AT". Even though it shouldn't matter what OBD dongle is used, we've ordered the same Veepeak LE module that you're using. Can you share a photo of the Car Scanner app displaying gears 1-10?

@ToyFan I posted this in the other thread but forgot to tag you. Let me know if I can do anything to assist.

Here is a screenshot of the parameters I was monitoring with the App. The Gear AT did advance as the gears changed, I did not get above 6th gear as I was in town. I will try to run it again this evening and make sure it goes to 10.

I actually did see your screenshot. I had mistakenly assumed you were only able to see Gear 1. Yes, please let me know if you can see all 10 gears. We have the app and will have the OBD dongle on Monday. If we can reproduce the gear, we can sniff the CAN traffic and implement it into the iDash. I'd love to see the screen shot of 1-10. Thanks in advance!

Haha... Understood. I was actually referring to seeing any gears. If you can see the gears change from 1-9, etc, that's what we're interested in.

@ToyFan Here are the screenshots you requested. It does go to 10. I had to get up to 80 mph to get to 10 though.

FYI..... I was able to see 1-9 today using the ELM OBD2 app. Couldn't get it to go into 10th as there was too much traffic to hold 80 for any length of time. I tried to force it into 10th using manual mode and although the dash display shows it's in 10th, I could not feel it actually shift into 10th. The ELM app never went to 10 even though the dash said it was in 10th.

That brings up a question..... Why are there 10 speeds if it never goes into 10th gear ( I rarely get above 75mph)

I'm more concerned about the oil pressure number. 25-65 psi is normal. 29 at 2k RPM is a little on the lower side.

This can eaisly be reversed from Toyota Techstream software. I have done it many times for various parameters that are not pre programmed into the apps. If Techstream can ask for it and see it, then your app can if you teach it how.

Would you be willing to get me the PID info for transmission temperature? I’ve been searching high and low for the proper name and equation. Thanks in advance.
PS - I tried the App mentioned in this thread this morning and though there are over a dozen Trans Temps listed all are blank for me (‘23 Tundra non-hy)

I would have to have access to a 2022+ Tundra to connect too and log data from. Unfortunately I dont have an close friends or people in my area that own one I could borrow for a few hours one afternoon.

BTW, the same Veepeak obd reader is working great with OBD Fusion and Carista. Just in case any of you were thinking of using those apps

What Ryan said. I've watched the oil pressure closely since new, and with the engine at operating temperature (oil not coolant) of ~200*F, pressure at idle fluctuates between 8-12psi.
