in anticipation of a Thanksgiving trip to Montana I went ahead with the plan to remove the rear seat behind the driver’s seat to create more interior storage. I left the seat behind passenger for an extra person.
After removing the plastic trim covers at the two mounting brackets I saw three bolts in each. The silver ones hold the seat to the base bracket where the single black bolts are. I removed one of the black bolts but there was no play produced, so I removed the two silver ones. The seat bracket wiggled on the mount so I removed the ones on the other side. After lifting the seat out of the mounts slots it easily came out. With some careful lifting and pulling I was able to get the seat out of the truck without damage.
For some reason, the bracket mounting bolt has an odd stepped thread pattern and I was not able to get the bolt to reseat into the chassis hole. It is kind of half in/half out- not sure how I’m going to get the seat remounted when the time comes.
The bracket mounts have a 90 degree bend than goes down the raised seat mount platform. I didn’t want to disturb the carpet that the two forward bolts were hidden by so just tried to reseat the black mounting bolts. Other than the loose bolt, the other disadvantage is the two metal lumps remaining in the floor.
A buddy came over in the afternoon and helped me carry the heavy, unwieldy seat into the garage.
The added space is really a boost to the interior storage space!

You can see the huge space, in the top pic that’s a case of water in the lower left.
The 2nd pic of the bracket hump, you can see the black bolt that I was not able to screw back down for some unknown reason.
Third pick there’s a water bottle to provide scale to the height of the bracket.

OP - Did you try to remove the big black metal hump that's left over? I just removed my seats yesterday and can't figure out how to do it.

Tried, but just left the brackets in place. All I’ll have to find is the seat!
