I know there has been many many past discussions about swapping the 26.4 gallon tank with the 38 gallon but I would like to know (without having to read 5 years worth of posts) if this is something my dealer can do for me? If so, any idea the cost? If not, can I buy the 38 gallon tank from the dealer?

Sounds like you need to ask your dealership. :notsure:

You’re looking at $1600 in parts, including the tank, which you can buy from the dealer.

All the info you need is on the first post here, no need to read the whole thread.

At that cost, I opted for the TF 46gallon tank. I'll install it when the supercharger goes in since I have to drop the tank to install the upgraded fuel pump.

I get gas at Costco b/c it's nearly 70 cents/gallon cheaper than everywhere else around here in Southern CA but the pump shuts off at $100. At nearly $4.35/gallon for 91 octane here right now, the pump would shut off twice and I'd have to re-run my membership and debit card each time to fill it up completely with a 46 gal. tank. The lines are already crazy long at Costco gas, I couldn't imagine the snake eyes I'd get if I had to do that. :D

Oh. I'd seldom run a full tank. Why carry all the extra weight? For daily use I'll probably only fill it half way. When I go to tow my 24' boat around and long distances, I'll fill up completely.

That half tank you seem to avoid doesnt even amount to 80 lbs... In a 6000lb vehicle.

By all means, do you. Guess I just wanted to do some math.

Uh, 46/ 2 = 23 * 6 = 138lbs. Why carry additional weight if you don't have to? Not to mention the 46gal TF fuel tank empty already adds additional weight over stock. More importantly, I wouldn't want to pay $200 at the pump to fill up each time. On top of the fact some pumps won't let you pump more than $75 a time around here anyway.

You can get a 38 gallon tank from a wrecked Tundra at a scrap yard. I got one for $250, some have gotten them for less. I love having it for long trips, especially when towing. I don't keep it filled when I'm not.

I couldn't find one in any of the junkyards near me, on ebay, or anywhere else online or I probably would have gone OEM 38gal.

Missed that you had the TF behemoth tank...

But still, even 140lbs in a 6000lb truck. Cant imagine you are getting any meaningful mileage benefit.

I'm still rockin the 26gal which seems crazy small, but not towing long distances has limited any annoyance.

I would jump on a 38gal from a wreck with the quickness... And I would just refill at 1/2 to have doomsday reserve.
