I thought I would start this thread so people can add their shortcuts, tips, and tricks for the Gen3 Tundra

Not all models will have all features of course.

Here are a few things to start this off.

Tilting mirrors: If you leave your control for the side view mirrors in the L or R position, when you put your truck in reverse it will automatically tilt the mirrors down a little bit to help in backing up. You can adjust the position when in reverse and the truck will remember the positions. Put it back in drive and they go back to the normal position.

Resuming stream: I use android auto. I have auto resume of streaming turned off because I don’t it coming on every time I start the truck. I listen to a lot of podcasts and when I get back in the truck and want to continue the podcast all I have to do is change the volume. Roll volume knob up or down a few clicks and the podcast will immediately resume. I mainly use YouTube Music.

Locking and unlocking: As described in another thread, to unlock the doors grab either front handle and the truck will automatically unlock. If you long hold on the driver’s side, all doors will unlock. Grabbing the front passenger handle it unlocks all doors on first touch. Tapping the front top edge of either driver’s side handle or passenger handle will lock the doors and fold the mirrors (if you have the mirrors set to fold when you lock it) (key fob must be on you)

On most models there is a button on the driver’s tail light that you can push to drop the tailgate (key fob must be on you)

I forgot to add the ability to hold down the unlock button on the keyfob and have all the windows go down an the moonroof open. Wish the back window rolled down too.

That is referring to the ACC (Adaptive or Automatic Cruise Control). That will slow the vehicle from the set cruise if you get close enough to the vehicle in front of you. It can be annoying even though there are 3 distance settings. All are far enough for someone to jump into the gap in front of you. And you will find yourself with cruise set to 80 in the left lane going 70 behind some idiot who doesn't understand lane guidelines, and not realize it for miles this way.

You can remote start with the keyfob on SR5 trim level.

If you're having problems with phone connectivity, press the big volume knob and hold it down and the infotainment screen will restart.

There's a little round button to the right of the tailgate release button on the tailgate that will lock the truck.

Google Maps in satellite view, using CarPlay or Android Auto, is my favorite tip.

I never knew about the button to lock on the tailgate. Confirmed it last night, lol. Great to realize I can save at least 16 steps if needed. Every step saved is a plus for me.

Connect to CarPlay or Android Auto. Open up Google Maps. Tap the screen to get the gear icon in the upper right of the screen. Hit the gear icon and a list of settings will come up. Select Satellite View.

Also, I deselect the "Arrow Pointing North" option. That way, the arrow will always point in the direction you are driving, which is how I prefer it.

Works for onXmaps too. I got weather radar on my '23 NX350h, but I either forgot how I did that or can't do it on my '24 Tundra Limited.

I haven't been able to pull up weather radar, either, in '23 Tundra. It would be nice if we could.

Not all 3rd gens just come like this. Either the dealership or Carista will need to be used on some to enable this.

I will also add that when using the remote start, you have to press them quicker than you think & hold it on the 3rd press longer than you might think.

I must say that it’s cool but after a couple rides it’s pretty distracting too. Takes getting used to I guess.

To each his own. I don't find it distracting at all. I like seeing the terrain and landmarks...like hovering over the truck in a helicopter at all time. It's not like I'm watching it all the time.

What screen do you have up most of the time while driving?

I mostly know where I’m going so tend to interact with Pandora most. I use maps for local traffic heads up or longer trips. Usually apple but sometimes Waze.
Google map view is really cool but it kept catching my attention checking out surroundings.

You need the correct weather app on your phone. Weather & Radar and also My Radar work with Android Auto. Either one of these will show up in The app and display in your truck. Very handy to have.

Thanks, I'll look into those options. I always use AccuWeather's radar on my iPhone, but I can't seem to use it in CarPlay. Or I just haven't found the trick, yet.

Yes, that would be nice. I normally use "Windy" app on android phone, would be nice it that app was Android Auto compatible. Others here have mentioned there are apps that are Android Auto compatible. (Not wanting to start an Iphone vs Android thing...) I would tend to assume Android Auto is geared toward minimally "distracting" apps

If it doesn't show up in the list of apps under Customize (under Settings/General/Car Play/your Tundra), it isn't available on the "big screen".
