    Hello,

Just passing along some observations. Hope they help someone.

    The truck is a 2021 CM SR5 4x4.

After agonizing for months on wheels, tires, and how I was going to slightly lift the front end, I finally came to a conclusion. It’s nothing special. It’s nothing that 1000’s haven’t already done…..
B5100s on the front. Middle setting
    B4600 in the rear
Stealth Custom Series SR8 (+25 offset)
275/70-18 General Grabber ATx in a Standard Load (4 ply)

    The observations…..
-After all of the reading I have done, I wasn’t expecting a mileage loss with SL tires, but guess what, there is. Me personally, I’m not concerned, but others might be. Since the wheel/tire package weighs less than what was on the truck, I’m assuming the mileage loss came from the front of the truck being slightly raised. Maybe the little bit more offset creates more drag.
-The 4 ply General Grabber ATx is FAR quieter than the GoodYear Duratracs that were on the truck.
-The Grabbers are MUCH better on wet streets than the Duratracs or the KO2s. It didn’t stop raining for the first 3 days that the Grabbers were on the truck, so I got to test them on wet streets.
-They balanced perfect on the first try at Discount Tire.
-They ride really comfortable (for an AT) out on the highway.
-They are three peak, but I live where it doesn’t snow, so this doesn’t matter to me.

This size wheel/tire combo seem to rub the front mud flap on most setups. For some reason, I’m slightly rubbing on the rear mud flap on the front wheel well. Forward and reverse at full steering lock. I’ll have to get out the heat gun and bend some plastic.

Now I know that General Grabbers aren’t on the list of “cool” tires, but I’m happy with them so far. Only time will tell how they wear.

    Hope the info helps someone.

Great to hear your review of the Grabber ATx’s! I was close to getting these when I upgraded earlier this year. I’m interested to see how they wear!

I haven’t found the Grabber ATX to wear any better than a KO2 or a Duratrac.

Are you going with 4 ply? Or 10 ply?

@BPKlein nice looking truck…I love my cavalry blue tundra. I had the duratracs and those were horrible. I purchased Toyo Open Country AT III 275/60r20 and love them so far. Whenever I upgrade my wheels I plan to look at those general grabbers…thanks for the info on them. I installed the Rough Country 2” leveling strut on front and RC N3 shocks on the rear yesterday. 83535C1F-E2C5-470A-B2FA-06CB296DBA24.jpg

Probably. But I’m not certain. The sidewall of the tire will say.

Dang. I love the Duratracs. They do everything I like offroad with a loss to on-pavement manners that I can tolerate. Even so, I was thinking of trying something slightly less aggressive like these ATXs next time around.

The best-wearing ATs for me were Nitto Terra Grappler G2s on my 4Runner. They looked like they still had half their tread life left at 45k miles.

Probably just going to stick with DTs again. I know a guy (my grandpa) who worked for Goodyear for 35 years and still gets an annual packet of coupons he shares with friends and family.

+1 for the Grabber ATX. I’ve had them on my 1993 4Runner which went to Alaska and back multiple times, and now on my 2021 Tundra. They’re a great tire. I got them in the stock size, but I look forward to sizing up eventually.

For your mpg are you adjusting for tire diameter difference?

    Yes.
I’d be interested in going back to the stock wheel/tire as a control test. But I’m not going to put them back together. ‍

I had the standard ATs on my 09 Crewmax I just sold. When I got them I Was looking for bigger name brands and the salesman told me to trust him and go with the Generals which do everything as well as everyone else but cost less. Very glad I did and will do It again. Aside from a bit more hum traction was formidable in all conditions and still Had at least a year of life left at 53k when I traded her early this year.

Had Revos and Toyos before that wore way faster and had performance deteriorate more when they got low.

Same road conditions (gravel and highway) I’ll get about 45k out of each brand.

ATX is a little quieter, MAYBE better on compact snow/ice, worse in mud and deep snow.

Thanks for the post. I just purchased some Method 701s which are 18x9 +25, and was planning on putting Grabbers on there as well. I run the same tire on my 2007 4runner, and previously ran them as 33s on my 2004 4runner that's now on 35" MTs for wheeling, but I loved the ATXs immensely.

I want to keep my '21 tundra capable but street minded and the grabbers are great at that.

Not sure about the newer atx but I had a set of the at2 that looked like the bfg ko2 before. Just being low on funds at the time I thought I was helping myself, I wasn’t. They cupped horribly and I replaced them after 10k with Michelins and never looked back. I won’t ever try to save a buck on tires again, Nor will I ever buy a general or GY tire again. I’ve had a few sets of ko2s since and they get sketchy in the rain after 20-30k. Otherwise I loved them. Probably going with ridge graps or the toyo at3 this time.

I wasn’t trying to “save a buck” on tires. They were not less expensive than most other brands. Ironically, you mentioned the Toyo and the ko2…. two tires that I will never own again.

10k mile, 1 year update on the Grabber A/TX LT.

Haven't put many off-road miles on them but they've been great everyday and in the rain plus the one weekend it was icy in texas.

I'm going to keep rotating these every 5k to see how long I can get them to last.

Be surprised if you don’t get at least 50k out of them.

I'm tempted to grab a set of the ATX SL rated 275 70 18. Pretty much the lightest weight 33" tire option out there, i have no need for E-rated tires. Discount tire shows them for $250 ea right now.

More than a year after I started this thread….. I am still very happy with the Grabber ATx tires on my truck. Absolutely the best wet traction AT tire I have tried. (I’ve owned a bunch) They are wearing perfectly even, and very quiet. (for an AT tire)

My KO2 have been good to me and I am on my second pair on my 2013 Tundra. I plan to go with KO3 on the 2021 when the new shoes are due.

I had KO2 on my last truck. They were great, i really liked them. Had none of the negative issues some associate with the tires. Just hard to swallow a tire that is 40-50% heavier.
