Looking at ideas but I am gonna start experimenting with this setup for now. Couldn't find anything reasonable and a clean mount / setup so maybe my route will work? Will keep you updated.

So let the fun begin. Just received my new toy and see where I can mount it in my truck? This together weights around 1.5 LB and I am gonna try some heavy duty velcro first as I hate drilling stuff in my brand new truck :) If that does not hold up then is time to drill baby drill, like we say in Midland Texas :)

    Ideas? Suggestions?

Have you thought about mounting it in the center console? I bought a magnetic strip for mine.

I need to be able to do one move / ones step to reach out for it. My center console have the organizer which covers all areas so that direction is closed for me. Plus, to reach out to your gun you have to open the console first and then grab it. Two steps?

Thanks for the guidance as I may consider it later if no good alternatives.

Looks nice, that's a fine reliable firearm.
I wouldn't count on velcro holding in an accident impact..

Use velcro to find the right spot then drill it..

I had one and sold it after buying a Sig P365XL.
I like the Sig but should have kept the 43X being the Glock fanboy that I am....:eek2::rolleyes::thumbsup:

I have a gen 2, but I use a gun magnet which works fine for my shield. I couldn’t get the double sided tape to hold so drilled 2 small holes for screws, much more solid that way!

    can see it here

Very NICE. I grew up with Makarovs then upgraded to Beretta M9 as I am moving around the world. And then life provided me with better personal options so now ain't bored trying all these nice and fancy firearms.

Please do not be mounting loaded firearms in open vehicle cabins with passive retention like velcro, friction or magnetism. Very retarded idea. In the event of a significant impact or rollover, you can easily end up with a loaded unholstered gun bouncing around your cabin or being ejected from your vehicle.

Store it inside a container (console, safe, etc.) in a holster, or mount a duty retention holster like a Safariland. Very easy to mount a Safariland QLS receiver with three screws or bolts & then attach a Safariland retention holster of your choice.

Do not be the meme that anti-gun advocates want you to be. Be smart.

Just don't mount it under the steering wheel. There is a knee air bag there and you don't want to make it a projectile.

Would second the advice on a Safariland or other retention holster. Should be able to find some online that people are getting rid of.

Very little practice to be damn quick on a draw even with an ALS with a hood.

G Code holsters have multiple ways to attach and the backing plate could be left attached to the truck, could swap out holsters depending on what flavor of hand cannon your feeling that day

Appreciate the advise and I absolutely keep an open mind. But, there is no bullet in the chamber and in addition you have a safe action system / trigger. Would it still be a risk during a significant impact or rollover? even thou the likelihood is very low.

In a comment above you are worried about taking two steps to access your gun, but you don't keep it loaded? You've got two steps with two hands to reliably put your gun into action as it currently stands. You're free to do what you please, but if you're carrying a gun for self-defense and you're remotely serious about it, it's advisable to do it the way that anybody else that is serious about it does it. Round in the chamber, gun in a secure holster mounted in an appropriate fashion. Guns should be treated with the respect they deserve, not tossed onto a magnet unloaded and treated as a protective talisman.

I'll get off the soap box, sorry.

Honestly it may not be the biggest issue but it is pretty amazing seeing the damage that even smallobjects can do with the g forces that are experienced in crashes.

Now yeah a water bottle or other items floating around are dangerous too.

Friend was knocked out cold by his flashlight during a t bone type impact to the passenger side. This was while he was working and in full uniform and gun belt. Wouldn't of been hard to disarm him till back up arrived.

Just something to keep in mind, glad your protecting yourself and others

I run Desert Does It Seat Jackers w/their Multi Mount Panel on the driver's seat.

The then attached a G-Code RTI wheel to the MMP, and as you stated, I can easily swap holsters to accommodate various weapon systems

The holster securely retains the firearm, and the holster is retained by the MMP, which is securely connected to the seat brackets.

I have very a quick and unobstructed access to the weapon, and my draw and presentation are unencumbered and efficient w/this setup.

When I leave the vehicle, the firearm is transferred to an appropriate holster, and that set up is then secured on my person prior to exiting the vehicle.

*** cuz someone will ask *** When I'm driving the 'empty' holster is carried on my person; this way if I have to exit the vehicle quickly and deploy the weapon I have a place to secure it on my person, once the threat is over. Yes, it would be less manipulation of the weapon to just keep it on me at all times; but that's not always the most comfortable thing to do while driving, and it's certainly not as efficient to draw/deploy from concealed positions while seated in the vehicle (so trade-offs I guess).....

So my final install with the Keeper magnets and some industrial velcro. Man this magnet absolutely rocks. Will see what the Texas summer does to the velcro and then I may decide just to drill the magnet.

I first picked up a We The People holster and a holster mount. The holster was uncomfortable so I’d have had to find another of their holsters for it, but I also felt the mount was light, cheap plastic that I didn’t want and sent it back.

I’m now waiting on a Vulcan magnet that’ll be installed in the same area as yours, just below the trailer brake controller and to the right. For me it’s the best option, can rack it quickly and I don’t travel with a chambered round in my Hellcat as it doesn’t have the traditional safety. But I will say I’m not sure I like where it sits so close to my knee, I have lazy, legs-spread posture when driving. Maybe this will force a change.

    Florida here.
“Securely encased” means in a glove compartment, whether or not locked; snapped in a holster; in a gun case, whether or not locked; in a zippered gun case; or in a closed box or container which requires a lid or cover to be opened for access."

As far as I can tell now that we have constitutional carry this law still applies. Firearm must be securely encased as above OR on your person concealed. No magnets or on the seat besides you. The different mounting positions shown would all be readily available and illegal in Florida.
Kydex holster would not work without retention strap or thumb break.

I may be all wrong but this section of law was passed years ago before Florida even had a must issue CWL I believe.

Is that mounting base just taped to the console? If so how long has it been holding up? Any issues?

I’m looking for a more secure non-screw in option for my wife’s armada bc the console is wrapped in leather where I would normally mount a magnet.

It's secured to the center console with a 4"x6" adhesive Velcro strip. It is very secure and has been installed for about 3 1/2 years with no issues.

I did this... safariland mounted directly to door panel. ULB mount on both sides of a RIGHTHANDED holster. Im left so now you know why. I can go from my door to my hip in seconds. The door holster is sort of universal as my HKs will also fit in this door as well. so whatever i am running for my EDC all works with the same door holster.
My question is why did you get an MOS glock and then cover the optic cut with the magnet?? Do you plan on running a dot later? The glue for that velcro will fail over time and you'll come out to your vehicle with the gun on the floor. (my past experience)

Here are pics of my mounting set up.
