Any suggestions on getting my 18 tundra to go faster short of the supercharger? I did the little plug and play “chip” but then the gas pedal lag. My understanding is that Toyota has this computer in lock down. Any suggestions?

They have a speed limiter, for your safety and the low speed rating of the tires to keep them from failing at speed. The limiter can be removed with a custom tune.

Great Thank you. So to remove and you say a custom tune is that 3rd party or just a tune from the stock cpu? Know anyone in the DFW,TX area

Are you looking for better acceleration or higher top speed? The limiter is only for top speed so, unless you're running it at a track, there's very little point in removing the limiter.

For acceleration, regearing and a SC are your best bets. Tunes will help from what I hear. Toyota didn't leave a ton of power on the table with the 5.7.

Yep, a third party would have to do it. I know if there are some tuners in that area. Maybe @mZiggy, @nobodyintexas can make some recommendations.

    Too many mods to come
Overland tailor tuning can flash and tune. This will give you some better performance, transmission shifts and throttle response.

If you speed, crash & kill someone in Tejas they'll throw your arse in prison. Do you really want to share a cell with no AC with 2 big lonely horny lifers? Sell your truck and buy a Prius b4 you kill someone on the road.

I know, let's start governing bullets so they don't go so fast, and motorcycles too! 107mph is fast and sure anything over 99mph will get you instant impound and jailtime, so why if they are putting the governor anyway, why not 99mph? Not a big speed difference from 107, 8mph difference, but 99mph tickets don't cause your vehicle to get impounded and your freedom taken away, along with your license for a year. The system is set to *uck anyone who wants to go faster than the set limits.

107mph, that's 8mph past the point of no go home and truck get taken to impound yard. The governor is set not to save lives, but to get idiot drivers off the road. What's the fastest driving speed before you get arrested? 99mph! Why not put the governor to that limit of 99mph? Every mile per hour over 99 is like a 1000 dollar fine increase. So stop the governing if you're not going to set the limit at a safe 99mph. 99mph governor or no governor at all. There are toy trucks that go faster than 107mph, why no governor in those? All the blocking and sensoring/censoring, its a shame that we can't unlock the potential in our new vehicles, but the older ones, the less safer crash rating vehicles are wide open to go 160mph plus! It is about as stupid as assault rifles with a 10 round capacity limit. So the honest hard working man goes to buy a rifle to protect his family and home, gets a 10 round magazine, and then some criminals decide they want to rip him off and their magazines are 30 round, or greater? How is he going to defend his family and property against much larger capacity magazines? The system is forcing the good guys to break the laws, just like letting us go just over the (100mph instant trip to jail) felony speed but not fast enough to get away from the the bad guys.

Speed "limits" are suggested safe speeds noted by 85% of the drivers traveling a roadway.

Put your truck on a diet. Take out rear seats, spare tire, only fill to a quarter tank of gas, turn off Nannies and press the little tow/haul ass button.

So what you are telling me is if I hit the tow/haul button it will go faster than 107mph?

That would be an easy solution to the governor at 107mph, but let's keep it real, no matter how light or heavy the vehicle is, the governor still cuts the fuel at 107mph.

No, I was assuming OP wanted to accelerate faster. Lol, what possible non-idiotic reason would a person have to take their Tundra over 107?

Ah, the "home robberies are a shootout against a gang with tommy guns" angle.
I can totally see the connection to vehicle governors.

    Pretty things
Larger diameter tires are the answer to fooling the governor.

My Tundra will go 109 mph

    WINNING!

This was a coffee morning read for me. Now that I a done wiping the coffee off my computer, I can return to fn around....

What made your comment so funny to me, was after I read it, I went "who is this again" and scrolled my eyes to the left and saw your image airborne.... For some reason, I heard "Rey rey" in my head and fn lost it.

I don't know, maybe buy a different car that is designed to go really fast? Not a 6500lb, four wheel drive pick up truck that is designed to test the strength of wind resistance.
