Hope to do a lift, but all the Safety stuff has me worried
Hello all, Bought my 4th Toyota today and ordered tires that will raise the truck about 3 inches. Came with 18 rims, Im putting XD wheels 20 inch rims. I bought this truck to put on a 2 inch lift like I did with my last 2 Tundras, now Im reading all the precollision Safety posts. If I do my mods what will happen? Will it suddenly stop if the radar / sensors are activated. SO bummed, I should be super pumped..can I still do the mods, must I disengage the PSC everytime before I drive it? My 2013 Tundra I traded in had 35K miles 2 inch lift 20 inch wheels and was perfect. Boy I hope I did not screw up. I really appreciate any help you guys can share. I live in central Pa. DRive safe

If the truck stays level you’ll be fine. There are plenty of lifted 2018-2019 Tundras lifted without issue. Take a breath.

Welcome from NC! You should be fine but just research the posts as it relates to the Safety Sense sensor and camera. Some have issues while others do not.

Thanks guys Hey T-Rex266..you mentioned that if it stays level Im ok? Is that the part about "rake" so you would recommend not leveling it then. 1 or 2 inches max flat? Thanks again!

Welcome, I belive level would be 2" up front. That will take out the rake.

What size tires did you get that will raise it 3"? I think stock is around 32" to get 3" lift from tires you'd have to be around 38" tires.

And as far as the TSS systems, you should be ok with a couple inches of lift. People seem to be having more issues with changing the grill than with a lift.
I dont know that I've seen an 2018 or 19 lifted more than 3 inches though, and you're taking about 2 inches of suspension lift and massive tires equaling 5" lift. Not sure of that high will be an issue.

for reference find a dealer that has the tools to calibrate the radar and have them adjust or verify after lifting.

a dealer that sells them already lifted should be able to recalibrate so that the system is targeting (painting) correctly.

a friend of mine that works on a different OEM told me that not all shops will have the equipment because it's new and expensive.

you have nothing but time to get it all worked out via resources here, if you need the lift for offroading immediately just do it. if it's for crusing the mall then take your time, sidewalks, speedbumps and curbs haven't changed in quite sometime so stock clearances should still be fine. ;) good luck bud.

FWIW, I have a 2018 lifted 3.5/1/5 and it sits a tad nose high, plus I have shell on the back which sags it a tad. zero issues with sensors so far and its been about 6 months.

That will not make any difference to the safety system. Most of the hype about the system not working with a lift or level is just rumor anyway.
    You will be good!
Congrats on the truck, welcome to the page, and post pics when you have the lift and wheels installed.

You mentioned that you ordered tires that will raise the truck about 3 inches. Is that with the 2" lift? Tires that raise the truck 3" would have to be 6" taller tires (only the bottom half count for raising the truck) which will cause rubbing issues. I assume you are counting the 2" lift with 2" taller tires for 3" total lift. With 2" lift you can go up to 285/60R20 (33.5") but bigger will rub.

    Welcome from La,

You’ll be fine. Relax. There’s a ton of 18-19 tundras out there that haven’t had problems with their sensors after lift/level.
Worst case, yours does and you lift it 1 inch in the back for rake.
Best case, your mods don’t give you any problems.

    Not a bad gamble.
