Wondering if anyone has ordered a Ranch Hand grille guard from Realtruck and how long it took to be delivered? Ordered on 8/31 and delivery ETA has changed each week since purchase by Meyerdistributing shipping company being used. Tried contacting Realtruck and they say contact shipping company instead.

If the thing has left the sellers/manufacturers warehouse, it's probably sitting at the shipping company's warehouse. They are probably waiting for enough stuff heading your way to fill up a trailer. I had this issue once. I called the shipping company and I was told that they cannot send a half full trailer. Took me 2.5 months to get my engine. I talked to the driver and he said that that's how LTL freight works and if I needed something shipping freight quickly to use fedex or ups. They do enough volume and have enough infrastructure that freight can move quickly through the system with little wait times at freight hubs. BUT it can be much more expensive.

Yup. They put out a bid order and selected the cheapest carrier that came though. The cheapest usually has longer transit times due to lower volume. The lower volume makes them cheaper.

If you're in a big hurry, ask the shipping company where your nearest hub is. You may be able to pick it up there and skip the local driver. Getting it on a local truck takes time as well. Depending on the size of the shipment, the size of the trucks, the number of scheduled drivers, etc. it can hang out at their hub again for a period of time.

First of all. I’m sorry this is happening to you as well as what happened to Gravity. But I’m not surprised at all. This is pretty common with POS distributors and LTL company’s. The fact that the company you bought from would tell you to figure it out on your own says a lot about them and explains why they are using a shitty freight company

I work for a very large LTL freight company currently as a driver and previously as an Supervisor. What y’all are experiencing is not typical with an actual LTL Freight company. Idk what the shippers are doing but a Real LTL company provides much quicker transit times. Each company is different and has different transit times but 2.5 months is a joke. 1 month is a joke. 1 week coast to coast is pushing it. Keep in mind that living in a rural or remote area can add anywhere from 2-5 days of transit once it reaches the destination terminal because they may not go to your town or area every day of the week. That’s just part of doing business.

Hope you get this figured out without losing too much time and energy. Good luck and post pictures of the new grill guard! Being a Texas boy I sure do love me a ranch hand!

I'm sure it's not indicative of the LTL industry as a whole. I'm glad you work for a decent one. I can't imagine the stress the load managers and office staff are put through at those small joints that get 100 calls a day from angry people. Land transportation is one of those things that truly is "you get what you pay for". I feel like the issue is that drivers'/companies' margins are getting thinner and thinner, so small, one off orders like a bumper or engine kinda get tossed aside, while larger 1/4 or 1/2 trailer loads get priority. Also, our loads are not stackable and they're losing a lot of real estate. I can understand why that trailer NEEDS to be full, but there is something to be said about setting expectations and giving the consumer knowledge on how freight shipping works. The only reason I know about all this is because I lived it. It's tough as a consumer when there's a free option then the next fastest option is a few hundred dollars. It's hard to tack that onto a multi thousand dollar item.

I understand sir. I love my job most days but some days I absolutely hate it. We could go on for days trying to discuss the ins and outs of the freight business and never really scratch the surface. Honestly because I don’t fully understand it myself! It truly is mind blowing at how the logistic side of this business runs. I’m heading to our Dallas terminal tomorrow. They have over 200 freight doors. 90 forklifts. 120 dock workers. 80 city drivers. And run about 4000 bills in a 24 hour period. It’s insane

Having full trailers is all about numbers. At our company we call it load average. The more weight and # of bills you get on a trailer the more cost efficient you will be. Your working with limited time and doors so it’s not very efficient to have multiple trailers half empty when they could have only had to move and hostle one trailer around. That’s why I left leadership because it’s just a bunch of bullshit number games. We send out a ton of empty trailers at my terminal but that’s because we deliver about 3-4 times as much freight as we pick up. It’s not in common to send a Line haul driver 300 miles with an empty set.

I don’t have all the answers but I don’t mind trying to explain things the best I can.

OP if you’d like some assistance in trying to figure out what’s going on with your bumper send me a message. I could probably give you some tips and tricks about how to get through to these people. Theres something going on fishy here and I don’t believe them for one second. There cannot be a logical answer to why your bumper hasn’t made it on a trailer yet
