I am having an issue where I am getting a loud grinding/catching noise. It almost sounds like my tire is catching on plastic but that is not the case and have verified that there is no contact between the tire and wheel well anywhere. This is only happening when I am moving in reverse with the tires turned almost all the way to the right. It does not make this noise when I turn the wheel the opposite direction. As soon as I straighten it out, about 1/4 of a turn, it goes away. I do have Bilstein 5100’s to level the truck out, and aftermarket wheels with 33” tires. I have had them on there for 5,000 miles with no issue until now. I do not believe this to be the CV because, then it should happen when going forward too right? Maybe I am wrong, but I am open to suggestions.

    Thank you for the help!

Jack up the truck, crank the wheel, turn the tire by hand. If it makes noise, then you have narrowed down the issue. Report back what you find.

33 inch tire leveled out is awfully close to the front flap with the wheels turned. It could be that you get a very minor touch at that angle moving forward and don’t notice or hear it because the wheel is moving away from it. In the opposite direction, the tire will catch it and push against the grain, so-to-speak, and it will be very noticeable. It’s a long shot, but that’s how I ended up heating and bending mine. I am sure you will figure it out.

Did you verify there's no contact WHILE the truck is moving in reverse? I'm gonna bet it's rubbing on plastic.

No I have not had anyone back up while I’m outside looking. But it’s so weird it’s only happening in reverse, and only turned to one side.

Yes, that happens. And if it's barely rubbing, you can't tell when the truck isn't moving. It'll only rub when it's moving in reverse.

And if it's rubbing in Full lock, make sure you're not rubbing on the corner of the skid plate if you have one.

I’d like to add, if it didn’t used to rub until recently it is also possible that your alignment got out of whack, or they didn’t tighten the LCA bolts enough.
