So after I bought my 2006 DC back in November, I started doing the little cheap things to get it current & to my liking. One thing was a good bath, clay job, and 2 coats of Griot's Ceramic 3 in 1 Wax. I didn't want to do a 'paint correction' as it's a 15 years old truck, and I want as much clear coat on there as possible, plus it's not a show truck by the furthest stretch. I have been very impressed with the final product/ finish of the 3 in 1 wax. It's only been 3 months, but water is still beading up very well, and drying the truck is a snap.

When I wash my truck, I like to use a little detailing spray as I dry to kind of give the paint protection a little boost. I saw that Griot's recently came out with a 'Ceramic Speed Shine' as kind of a quick detailer mist etc. . It's supposed to work very well in maintaining the 3 in 1 wax, so I gave it a try. Man, this stuff is legit. I watched a few do-it-yourself vids before I applied it. A very little does indeed go a long way, but the finish/ shine it leaves is super impressive. I actually washed and dried my truck first, then jammed to the store to pick up a bottle and applied it in the direct sun. It was pushing mid 70's here in So Cal and the blue metallic paint on my truck gets pretty warm. No problem with flashing, or streaking what so ever. All it took was 2 light sprays per quarter panel and wiped it around with a folded micro fiber, then flipped it over to the dry side for a quick buff. I seriously did the whole truck in under 10 minutes. I've used the Griot's Speed Shine & like it a lot, but this stuff leaves a much smoother richer finish . . . it really is noticeable. Not sure if it has anything to do with the existing coats of 3 in 1 ceramic wax, but whatever it is, I'll take it.

We'll see how it lasts, but so far I give this product major props. I bet my 3 in 1 wax will last well over a year using this stuff occasionally as a 'maintainer'. BTW, no affiliation with Griot's etc. etc. just a satisfied customer.

Crappy cell phone pic. but you can kinda get the idea . . . .

Looks good. Been thinking of a ceramic coat for my truck. Not sure if I should do it or let a professional. Nice work

Thanks . . . FWIW, I only did the 3 in 1 Wax . . . it's about as easy as it gets, seriously . . . and didn't cost a lot. The clay process is super easy as well. Regarding the expensive 'true ceramic/ graphene coatings' . . In my opinion, unless you have a super nice truck that you park inside and wash yourself or pay to have it professionally washed etc. it's probably best to just go with a 3 in 1 ceramic type wax (whatever brand you prefer), and use a ceramic maintainer/ detailer spray like the ceramic speed finish every once in a while. I think those high-end coatings great . . . but are only as good as you are willing to pay to maintain. I dig taking care of my rig . . . but I'll go long periods of times w/o washing it, . . . I'll often just hose it off in the morning while it's warming up then take her up to 60 mph for a blow-dry lol. Technology in car care has come a long way in recent times.
