So, Toyota OEM batteries pretty much suck and my 2 year old battery was corroding my battery terminal almost enough where I could not get it off. I had the same problem with my Tacoma battery back in the day and I didn't want to deal with Toyota again as they would only replace the terminal while under warranty.

I'm a firm believer in the AGM batteries for their lack of maintenance and I almost pulled the trigger on a 27F from X2Power at Batteries Plus but $365 seems a little excessive. I could have purchased a 27F Northstar from Amazon for $334, but where would I take it if I ever needed to use the warranty (although I probably wouldn't need to use the warranty). I looked at Advanced Auto with their 25% discount code, but they only carried a AGM in the 24F size, which gave up a lot of the specs compared to the 27F. At the end of the day, I decided to look outside the box to see what my best value would be.

Enter the H7 AGM battery at Advanced Auto. it is a little shorter then the 27F (around an inch) but the width and length are close. As for specs, see below:

    Amp Hour:80 AHCold
    Cranking Amperage:850
    ACranking Amperage:1000
    ANegative Terminal Location:Top
    LeftPositive Terminal Location:Top
    RightReserve Capacity:140 min
    Terminal Type:Top MountVoltage:12 VDC

Although the numbers are not as good as a 27F AGM, they are much better then a standard 27F or a 24F AGM.

I ended up getting the H7 AutoCraft Platinum AGM for around $150 after tax and discounts. The H7 is meant to mount to the car via a screw down plate that holds down on tabs at the bottom of the battery. To make it work in my Tundra I did the following:

Cut the tabs at bottom of the battery. I used my recip. saw, but I think even a utility knife would work. Once cut the battery fits great in the OEM tray.

I replace the OEM battery hold down with a flat aluminum style that works much better for the H7 battery, https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00YG3KEDA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Overall I'm very happy with the change. Granted it isn't as good as a Northstar, but it is much better then the OEM or a standard lead acid. Starting power is noticeably improved and my Kenwood head unit does not cycle power when starting the engine now.

Just wanted to share my experience as an option for lower cost battery options as I didn't see much out there between a standard lead acid and a full out AGM 27F.
