Hey, new member here. I’m likely going to be purchasing a ‘23 TRD Pro in the next month or so. Only issue is that my garage is too small to fit a truck, and here in CO we get some gnarly hail storms time to time. Does anyone have any hail protection covers or anything similar they recommend I take a peak at?

i like how they dont even come close to an actual hail storm impact simulation. not like it going to hail 1 big item at a time.

Except for the part where it was in an actual hail storm, I guess. I think the idea of throwing a 5lb weight down is that you won't really see a hail stone that size, but if it can take an impact like that in one spot, a bunch of small stuff spread over a larger surface area shouldn't be a problem.
We get a lot of hail out here in DFW and I am seriously considering this.

Thanks for the advice! You might want to send me you spare bubble wrap ASAP as we’re getting a storm this afternoon.

Or find a parking garage near you and pay to park there during the storm.

ok but you are guessing that the single 5lb weight is compressing the entire structure and that only has to resist 1 point. in some hail storms (outside quarter size and smaller) if you get a decent storm, the constant pounding across multiple points may cause a failure or compress the structure enough to cause contact.

i wanna see one of these survive a decent actual hail storm and not a controlled environment.

but then again, i have never had the luxury of dealing with a hail storm in ND that has sizes above pea much less quarter size. unlike the southern states they can get up to baseball size storms.

i am just going by my limited knowledge

300 hectares on single tank of kerosene
Get an area rug or piece of carpet and throw it over the hood/roof (fuzzy side down). The wind will probably sweep it off though.

Honestly, if you live in an area with hail, you will get hail damage at some point.

Are you going to stay home all day with your car in the garage if there is a storm in the forecast?

I guess the obvious question is - what is everyone else doing in CO about the hail storms?

I'm in Florida and everyone's trucks are outside b/c the garages in my neighborhood are too small. In talking with them about hail, they pull the truck as far into the garage as possible and cover whatever is hanging out with blankets and straps to keep it down.

If your entire truck is outside, I'd purchase some moving blankets and bungee cords to keep under the back seat. This way you're always ready for hail and those will give some decent protection.

In the OP's case, this justifies investing in a carport (cheaper option), adding one of those steel buildings, or adding on to the garage. There's really not much else OP can do aside from not buying a nice truck that doesn't fit in his garage and even if he went through all the trouble of constructing something, what if there's a storm while he's at work for example assuming the truck is parked outside. I had a few run-ins with hail while stationed in Louisiana, people in the city did not have covered parking so their cars got beat up. I drove a beat-up Subaru, got 10k from the insurance for the damage then traded it in shortly after. In practicality, some heavy moving blankets and some straps are the best and quickest portable solution.

Yes, I think I’m going to have to get it mostly into the garage on bad days and use a moving blanket to cover the rest. Really just wanted to see if I was missing something obvious that others had used but sounds like it’ll just have to be a little x, y, and z. Also need to get my garage cleaned out too :)

At the end of the day there’s just not much I can do if I’m at work or driving around, but figured I’d try to be prepared for when there is advanced notice and my truck is at home.
