Wanting to mount a 2m on the drivers side of hood. I can figure out the mount, but suggestions never hurt. Why reinvent the wheel, right.

    Want an NMO mount.

But the real question is what are you guys feeding through the firewall? I've seen a few posts showing the grommet used to pass the wires. But there's no way a PL-259 is going through there.

So do you pass the cable through then add a connector, or is it an SMA sized cable that is transitioning to RG-58.

Yeah, you're going to have to crimp your connection on afterwards. I know of an easy access but it's on the pax side. Are you trying to avoid the radio antenna?

Yes - connector snaps on after. I used an extension on the ditch light bracket for the antenna. It was way easier than I thought it would be.

    Imma keep it stock
Okay, I realize this is 2.5 gen territory :crapstorm:, but I have to agree with @AZBoatHauler on the midland antenna. That thing is awesome.
Mine is mounted on my brush guard and will withstand a cloth contact car wash :D

    Hi guys,
    Here what I'm thinking.
Light bracket with the Midland MNO cable and a Nagoya MNO-72.
    Radio: Anytone 778UV Vox.

Where's the easy access? Cables are plenty long enough to go across the engine bay. And yes would prefer not to have a 2M antenna next to a FM radio Antenna.

Plus, it works as one of those senior citizen's "where in the hell is the front of my truck at" parking assist devices

Larsen makes an NMO kit similar to the Midland. 17 feet of RG-58 with the small connector that threads into a PL-259. I have a fender mount with that setup through the firewall gasket nipple. I run a Larsen NMO antenna on it as well. Great stuff.

Then I have a stake pocket mount with an SO-239 for my ATAS-120A screwdriver.

Now that I'm back at a PC here are some links and a photo. I had a tough time finding a fender mount that fit a 2019 Tundra. The best price ended up being from Alberta Radio Supply, even with shipping from Canada. If you add the Larsen coax you get a discount as well. I think was $53 shipped for both.

    Fender bracket mount - https://albertaradiosupply.com/products/fender-antenna-bracket-for-toyota-tundra-2014-2021-nmo-mount
Larsen coax and NMO connector - https://albertaradiosupply.com/products/nmo-antenna-cable-larsen-nmokhfud

I had to bend at the bracket a bit to make it 100% level. Otherwise happy.
