Who’s happy or satisfied with the single out OEM exhaust?

I keep going back and forth on modifying it. I’ve read all the posts on dirty deeds, Flowmaster 40 and 50 , TRD etc. But I haven’t pulled a trigger because the OEM system isn’t really that bad and actually sounds pretty decent, I’ll admit it would sound better a little deeper but there’s also something to be said in running the OEM system that was engineered for the vehicle. What are your thoughts?

I put the black chrome tip on mine for cheap and will literally never think about it ever again. It sounds good when it needs to, never drones, and it's quiet on the long highway stretches.

If I want a loud exhaust, I'll get on my motorcycle and look better doing it.

I'm content with the OEM exhaust, but I'm a fairly simple person when it comes to that stuff

Too quiet is much more tolerable than too loud

Are you talking about the Toyota brand tip? I was looking at it and it looked pretty high quality, I did see some reviews that it started rusting but I don’t live in an area where they salt roads anyway.

I added the TRD exhaust to mine and am very happy with the results. It's noticeably louder, but not loud enough to be annoying. Even my wife likes the way it sounds now.

You can try the SABM, should give you an improved sound and a slight increase in performance. Pretty cheap and is supposed to be easy (I can't say since the parts are still sitting on my bench..... time is my enemy). Many threads on it but here is a starting point.

Stock is too quiet for me. I went with the Carven catback kit and still smile every time I get on it.

I added a Dirty Deeds Helmholz resonator to my OEM exhaust (got rid of drone at ~1500 rpm) and sound deadened/insulated the cab. On highway tires it is Lexus quiet. It has become my wife and I's favorite long trip vehicle. Sound system sounds better, conversations inside the cab are more enjoyable and our ears aren't ringing after extended trips.

Quiet vehicles are the way for me now.

Stock as well, but I'm not really one for loud exhausts (have enough early-2000 Honda Civics around me as is). I did remove it and spraypaint it black with hi-temp spray paint. I think it looks much better that way - matte black almost.

Do you have a link for where you bought yours? I'm trying to find out if it's different size wise from the 2nd gen kits.

I prefer stock. Too loud can be exhausting on a trip. (pun intended)

depends what you are looking to get out of the exhaust, if its loudness then no. But I have had no complaint with mine because my need for my exhaust is to be un-noticeable, I prefer the quieter early morning cold starts so my kid and neighbor won't be bother. That is just me, so it all comes down to what's your need.

I'll be doing the same thing in a couple days. I had the OEM/resonator setup before and like you said - Lexus quiet. Had my fun with TRD and BAM setups. Running OEM now - but want to make it even quieter.

I did the DIY and bought the parts from a local auto store. Was like $25 in parts I think. I think I have a different thread saved that calls out the specific parts to order.

You might be right, but the silicone sleeve wouldn't be too expensive at your local auto store if you did need a longer one.

I used this chart to select my Flowmaster muffler. I went with the 40 series Delta Flow. Happy with the choice. Works for me. 943D3DCF-8709-4C56-A2FC-4C07626CCC77.jpg

Quick update. After driving the OEM/Keith's tailpipe resonator setup for almost a week, it's not only dead quiet (expected), but noticeably smoother (unexpected). I know the truck isn't faster, but any acceleration (low, medium, heavy throttle) just feels better with the addition of the tailpipe resonator. It feels less labored and again - very smooth - "almost refined."

As mentioned, I enjoyed the TRD and 8/12 BAM systems, but I'm really digging the refined quietness now.

    Just my 2 cents.

Definitely more refined feeling. I noticed it took resonance feedback from the exhaust away almost completely. I could physically feel it vibrate the cab, mainly through my accelerator pedal before and that is gone now. Still sounds like a V8, but maybe a "happy" V8 compared to "aggressive" like you'd get from TRD duals or a BAM.

Try sound deadening and insulation next.
