Ordered my harrop e-locker from ECGS (pre-assembled into a spare 3rd member), had my local 4x4 shop swapped in the 3rd member, went in pretty smooth. Can't wait to test them out on the trails.

No I did not regear, was happy with how my 4.30 gear behaves with 35s.
I did not regear, it was $1800 ish for the locker parts (including master kit) and $1200 for them to put the locker into a refurbed 3rd member.

I was unaware an e-locker was available for the Tundra. Awesome

It seems all I hear about are the air lockers.

You're gonna love it but wait til you get a front locker. The things you can do are outrageous!

I was determined to get an E-locker after research and even my local gearing/locker shop is saying the air locker is just an disaster in terms of having way more parts prone to fail (reliability) and ease of servicing.

I do believe the harrop is part of Eaton, and this is the same Eaton E-locker for tundra (only e locker option I could find)

    Harrop = Eaton.

Throw the front in there too! I installed mine a few months back and have only been able to go to the snow for a few trips since then. They make a HUGE impact and really is the difference between getting stuck and not stuck. I can’t wait to get in some wheeling on the dry stuff once the snow goes away.

Also, what is this master kit you speak of? My rear came with everything I needed to install and wire up.

4.30s on 35s? Do you ever see 6th gear?

I’d also do front and 4.88s but I already did.

You’ll like the rear locker but you’ll LOVE the front locker

Nothing to say about the locker except your awesome!

Nice rear shocks, same as my 5160's?:hattip:
But you need a fancy mounting spacer like I used for mine, forgot what it was called but its black aluminum and clamps on with allen bolts.
    Sorry I don't have a pic
The stock straps they provided detract from the look imo.

And look at you embarrassing all those jeeps and domestics

Excited for you!! Try to avoid full lock turns when you've got the front locker on - that's when shit usually happens.

I’m only doing the rear this weekend. I’m waiting on a set of rcv axles, when I get those in I’ll likely look at the front locker. But thanks dude!

now that I am trying to get a feel of it engaging and disengaging, I found it engaging pretty quickly but for disengaging, it takes a bit back and forth after turning it off to get physically disengages, is that somewhat normal?

That’s normal. When you’re on the trail just keep rolling forward, it’ll disengage. No need to go back n forth.

Hey op that’s completely normal, check this video out 15:15-16:40 for an explanation why

Definitely normal for disengaging. Harrops unlock of you roll backwards so be careful about rolling backwards on obstacles or if you are in a sketchy spot.

One advantage to ARB lockers is they don't unlock going backwards and they engage and disengage very fast.

Harrops are modified Eaton lockers. Eaton decided to start making Toyota applications so Harrops are becoming less common here in the states.

Yes, I have seen how that could be unlocked from my research as well, according to Harrop, 90% of the time if the rear diff is under load, it won't come unlock but yes I see how that could be potentially frustrating when you don't have full control of what the locker is doing. For ARB, I am not a fan of the multi-system dependent of their locker, there just could be so much things go wrong on the trails and I don't want to be worry about the longevity of my locker when out exploring. For my kind of offroading, I think Harrop should work just fine.

I will keep you posted, I use my youtube channel <4WD is Life> to show case offroad comparisons of varies trucks/4x4s, and I am planning on doing a video demonstrating on how this locker works in the very near future. Please consider subscribe if interested :)

You’ll soon find out that even if it takes a little longer than usual to disengage you’ll be fine with it. It’s the front locker that will make you worry at times because it is impossible to turn the wheel if you are on a sticky surface, like when you go from dirt to granite and there’s an edge that you don’t want to fall over.

Does this locker work in 2 wheel drive? I am not a off roader but my right wheel just has too much torque on it. I want both wheel to share the load. Makes nice burn out marks too :)

They are not controlled by a computer, just a simple wiring harness and switch. They can be switched on and off at any time.

This would work in 2wd as long as it is wired up to do so.

If you are not into anything extreme off road, just get an Eaton TrueTrac. Limited slip, no wiring involved, totally automatic and you never have to worry about it failing.

The only issue with the helical type diffs is when you lift a tire into the air, they become an open diff. A little bit of brake pressure (even the stock traction control intervening) and it's good to go.

I've had e-lockers on a number of vehicles now (2 Toyotas, 1 Nissan, 2 Jeeps), they are great off road, but i would have gotten much more real use out of a good limited slip
