Has anyone came up with a way to bypass the remote start door open shut off yet?

This has been Plaguing the Toyota drivers for years now. There must be some kind of wire, door, computer bypass somehow by this point. I just seen that the 23 tundra is supposed to have the issue fixed. But I love my 21 tundra and want it bypassed in my truck. They should find a way around this if they have not already. Has anyone heard anything as of recently?

It’s more of a “core” problem than most understand. In my knowledge Toyotas programming “boots” most of the truck but not all of it when remote starting.

The network of ECUs and communication between them when starting is pretty extensive. It seems the remote start process does most of these but not all.

Some users have reported a glitch remote starting when unlocking the door in that the truck didn’t turn off but putting the key in didn’t bring the truck all the way to life. In a way the glitch froze the system in a sub boot and truck has to be reset to going back to normal.

I am not saying it can’t be done but it’s more than swap a wire or two around, remote start, unlock the door, put the key in and go.

To answer your question, no at this time no one I have seen has a real stable correct solution.

You can almost think of the truck having two modes. A normal put the key in start/run/drive mode and then a sub remote start/run but don’t drive mode. A solution would have to merge the two to make the remote start fully prep the truck for start/run/drive without killing the engine when the key unlocks the door.

Aftermarket remote start systems are the only thing that's had any success with this. As Jeff said, it's not a simple thing.

For the physical key, yes. Push to start has no workaround regardless of OEM or aftermarket system.

Ah, that's new info for me. I never really looked into it as my Tundra didn't have remote start, and I don't find the shut off to be any kind of issue on the Taco. Just not something that matters to me, I guess.

Good to know, I hadn't heard that before. It's an irritation but not the end of the world either.

I need to look into this a little more. Interesting.

My 07 is key start with factory remote start. I know some have asked about converting older trucks to oem pushbutton start. Most likely not easy to do.

Either way the start sequence is just closing a switch to send a “wake up” trigger to all the ECUs.

The aftermarket remote start systems just mimic you turning the key to start without having to be in the truck. When you get in and put the key in it really just unlocks the mechanical steering wheel lock at that point.

I wonder if they (aftermarket) bypass/clone the immobilizer signal from the key if it is to far away when remote starting?

That could be the big problem with OEM remote start. It bypasses the immobilizer when doing remote. It turns back off to make you restart with key in ignition so the immobilizer can now check and verify your key.

I feel the same way. Sure I'd prefer if it stayed running, but I've gotten used to it at this point.

    This is fake news, actually!

Well, out-of-date info, anyway. AccessoRides has a fantastic team and they're finalizing a plug and play version that is a "full system takeover" and won't turn off the truck when the door is opened:

Damn have to install it so it can copy your immobilizer signal into the memory and then remove it and send it back to them so they can fully program it to function.

Kind of a pain in the ass but further proof is a bigger problem than most realize.

Ahhh, shame! I do like my kit from them for my keyed '16 anyway.

Actually, converting a keyed ignition into a push-to-start is a easy as installing an aftermarket remote start. The problem that I ran into in a previous car I owned and converted to push-to-start, was the locking steering wheel. There is supposedly a way to unlock the wheel by removing the locking pins, but I just wasn't willing to do it.

I would make this post, then remote start my truck this morning just playing with it and have it glitch on me.

First time I tried it didn’t go. On second time I got the beep and it started. Let it run about 1 min. Look in the window to see what systems are on/off. Instrument cluster and radio fully lit up. Unlock the door, put the key in to go and nothing. Everything dark like the battery isn’t even hooked up.

I just unhooked the battery to “reset”… Toyota programming kind of sucks.

Five minutes later it’s all back to normal once violate memory is cleared and battery back hooked up
