I keep reading about gator back, Dayco and gates.
Has anyone noticed any of those brands last longer, make less noise, help reduce engine noise, increased MPG :)D) anything?

I am planning on changing the tensioner and pulley, and might as well get a new belt. I just need some insight into the 3 belt brands mentioned above

How many miles you got? I typically replace the belts around 100k or if symptoms arrive. If the factory belt gets me to 100k, going right back with that. I’ve used the gates in my 2000. No complaints or failures in the last 50k miles with it.

If you live in an area that's humid or get a lot of rain, a Gatorback belt will allow condensation to escape evading the initial turn on squeal, fan roar will remain the same. The others are similar to each other but will not allow for condensation to escape, until it evaporates. I've gone through a few belts, since my truck kept shredding them, so it's personal preference.

I've been using Dayco belts on my 15 Crewmax, first one was at 100,xxx miles. Then I had to replace the original idler pully when it started squealing. So I had all new Dayco parts installed, belt, idler and tensioner pully. When comparing the Dayco to gates I think the Dayco was just a little higher quality.

I recently bought an OEM replacement from Toyota and it says Bando on it.

I'd replace it and check the idler pulleys...I replaced mine with a Continental belt a year ago, 80,000 miles and have 94,000 now. No issues.... Used to be able to tell by cracks, but not any more. Gates does make a belt wear gauge that checks wear in the grooves, but they are hard to find.

Dayco was OEM on our Sequoia. Haven’t looked at the Tundras. I replaced our Sequoias at ~80K because I had to replace the tensioner anyway. The belt looked to have a decent amount of life still.

    Following.

I bought a new belt at Auto Zone a couple years ago. I don't recall the brand, but it was their most expensive one. All I know is that sumbitch squealed like a pig whenever the weather got below about 50 degrees.

What was wrong with the tensioner? What symptoms did it have?

Bearing went out and loud squeaking, replaced it with an OEM tensioner and problem solved.
