So i’m about to start a concrete business and i was wondering if my 2WD 4.6L Tundra will be able to hold up for about a year or 2. I plan on getting a ram 2500 eventually but was wondering if it can haul a good amount of concrete. Miles are at 93k.

Well of course I will be using a trailer. I wanted to be sure it can haul concrete bc it can get super heavy.

How big is the trailer? A 1 yard mix trailer will be about 6500 lbs loaded (1 yard is about 4k). That’s close to your max.

Assuming you have have the tow package, I believe the 4.6L is rated for around 7600 lbs towing. Most form trailers I've seen being pulled by anything short of a dually or medium duty are usually a 10k trailer; most dump trailers are 10k or 14k. That doesn't mean that they trailer WEIGHS 10k or 14k (I'm sure you know that) but you have the possibility of overloading the truck. That said, I've had a fair bit of busted up concrete in the bed headed to the dump, as well as a stack of 80 lb mix headed to the middle of nowhere without issue.

I believe it’s rated a bit lower at 6800 lbs.

    That could very well be.

My buddy ran his construction business (framing, trim, and now General) with his 4.6 Tundra. His enclosed was pretty chunky at times, as well his flatbed. It never skipped a beat. He may have had 5.7 Envy whenever I rolled up, but that 4.6 still got the job done.

In a former life I was a concrete finisher then superintendent and find this question perplexing.
Concrete comes in the readymix truck 10 to 12 cubic yards per truck. You shouldn’t need the tundra for anything but hauling the power trowels, hand tools, pole handles, forms, cure, reinforcement, etc
A 2t flatbed with a trailer would probably be perfect. The tundra would work, but be stressed

I’m a concrete and carpentry superintendent. You’ll need a trailer, but I’m only envisioning you hauling tools and forms this way.

Why are you wanting to haul the concrete yourself? It’s 4000 pounds per yard and batch plants will drive it to you on their trucks.

I’m strongly suspecting that this is a troll

All the concrete guys I know run 3/4 tons with gas motors. This way they get the high payload needed since you will be subject to DOT and state laws.

-skid steers in dump bed trailers
    -hauling material
    -cheap if buying used.

They run trucks like this (but usually an extended/single cab) with 80-110k miles. Then run them up over 250k.
