Find out how to get into the cabin filter and look in there?

change your cabin air filter, you may find more than just the filter in there.

Maybe the heating element or around is dirty. Not sure how you would get to it though

The smell you describe sounds like a dead rodent to me. Take it from a former KY resident with plenty of dead rodent experience :tumbleweed:

Is the truck brand new? Mine smelled odd when I first got it, went away after a week of using the heater.

There’s no “heating element” like a home
Furnace has. It has a heater core that circulates hot engine coolant through it to warm the air. I’ve seen some posts in here about 2022 models coming with bad heater cores. Worth having a service tech take a look at it.

Brand new, you should alert you dealer. Let them handle it. I would not be trying to address or fix anything on a brand new 60-70k truck.

I think people come on here with their issues to be better informed. Don't think they are trying to personally fix their new trucks. I would want to know what was wrong before letting the dealer jerk me around too.

Mine was a mouse. Change the filter, check for nests and throw a few bars of Irish Spring in there. Before all that use some gloves, hantavirus is not something to live with.

Yup…had this issue on my 2015 as well.

Afew bars of Irish Spring in the engine bay (annoyingly high scent they don’t like) coupled with a few scented laundry softener sheets in the glove compartment helps with that.
They also sell peppermint and other high scented sprays to douse your engine compartment with.

Mine builds up moisture when left on “Auto” setting, then eventually will emit som’e musty smell when heat only.
I started drying it out by putting on the manual fan to speed 4 or ‘above and turning the heat up a little with the AC off. Do that for maybe 3 to 5 minutes at the end of the day’s drive.
I’ve found this necessary with any machine or vehicle ever operated because AC pulls a lot of moisture out of the air and heater/AC unit needs to dry out.
